I am so excited to begin teaching Charlie this morning. That I spent the last couple days getting things we needed. As well as downloading items online for him. So all we have to do is print them out and start to work. Plus I have our kit from Teach My out on the table. So all Charlie has to do is come to the table and we can begin school. So this morning I would like to say “Thank you” to #HGG Sponsor Teach My.

Because I knew that the first thing I wanted to try this morning was his gift from one of the Sponsors in this year’s #HGG and it is Teach My and we have the Teach My Preschooler kit. As I know that Charlie still struggles with reading and writing as well as spelling.

So even though he is in 2nd grade we have been backtracking and going over items children should have learned in preschool or kindergarten as it has helped us assess where Charlie is having trouble. Plus it allows David to work with us as he can not read or spell. And when Charlie sees his dad working it helps get him more motivated.

So this morning I have Charlies Teach My Preschooler kit out and I have been reading the instructions and I have found things I can include in the other things we will be teaching. Such as keep school away from the toys. And find a clean area  to do school. And to time how long you’re working on something so they do not get burned out.

And with Charlie having ADHD keeping him focused for even 20 minutes can be hard. But that is what Teach My Preschooler suggests so I will be getting a timer and setting it so we know when it is time to stop. And I will be using the Timer in all of the classes we do. Especially when we are reading as he does need to read for 20 minutes a day.

If you have not heard of Teach My and the Teach My Preschooler Learning kit it  has the following items inside it reading, printing, numbers to 100, math and all of these are items I am teaching Charlie in school so they will allow me to reenforce the items he should already know. But with the reading I will be able to see what words Charlie struggles with and to use them for his Spelling test.

Everything comes in bags and you can do one bag a day and if you finish something and still have time left just go back over it as repetition is how children learn. Or you can do like Charlie and I will be doing and we will figure out other words or draw pictures of the items we learned. As I want him to get used to the books and the words in the books and how you can use them in other sentences. Or how you can draw and color them and what shapes you use as it would lead to a art lesson.

There is a set of flashcards and  tin to keep the words inside that they can read without any trouble that they can carry with them to show their families. But what I will be doing with the tin is putting in the words Charlie can spell without any help from me. So we can work on the words he doesn’t know. And we will get a baggy for the ones he has trouble reading and this will allow us to use Teach My Preschooler the way they suggest but to add my own take on it as well.

So now it is time to begin school and as you know Charlie attends Bones Academy and we will not only be using Teach My Preschooler but some other items from their website as the year progresses as there is a several sets for the bathroom.

And Teach My should be coming out with a 1st grade set as well. Which I can not wait to see as I know Charlie will also need it. As it would allow us to repeat more of what he should already know. And I am Praying they will see there is a need for other classes and make them as well. Especially a 2nd grade set. Hint Hint.

But before I go I would like to let you know Teach My is a “women owned” business and this means a lot to me. As moms are the ones who usually deal with children and schoolwork so I know Teach My will fit the need us mothers struggle with and understand us and the ways we teach.
