Homeschool Resources: Grease

Good morning, how are you? I wanted to share a new Homeschool Resource: Grease the movie which is a Homeschool Resource we will be studying in our Drama Class. As I put together our lesson plan we will begin by watching Grease and Grease 2. Would you like to join us as we watch the movies? Then we will listen to the songs from the Movie. I don’t know about you but I bet you I can sing all the songs word for word. Then we would like to invite you to do the hand Jive with us.

About:

Grease is musical featuring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John about teens in love in the 1950s. It’s California 1958 and greaser Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Australian Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) are in love. The kids spend time at the beach until the end of Summer when they believe Sandy will be returning to Australia. When Sandy and John go back to school, what neither of them knows is that they both now attend Rydell High.

On Friday you will be watching Grease which you might be able to find on TV if you’re lucky. If not, you can pick up the DVD at Walmart’s or Amazon. Or your library might have a copy of the movie. Grease 2 Back to School Again might be a little harder to find so you may have to purchase this DVD on Amazon.

Grease

A wholesome exchange student (Olivia Newton John) and a leather-clad Danny (John Travolta) have a Summer romance, but will it cross clique lines?

Grease 2 Back to School Again

Many familiar faces from the smash hit “Grease” return to the campus, and the new ones are equally memorable in this happy tribute to straight skirts, girl-chasing and young love.

Reading Class:

Charlie and I will be reading this magazine to brush up on all of our facts of Grease. Along with Grease Paperback.

As your reading the book write down things you learned in your Reading Journal.

Discussion questions:

Write your answers inside your reading journal.:

What is the message of the movie Grease?

The statement Grease is making is that as the 50’s came to a close, women were rethinking the confines society put on them, Sandy included.

What does this statement mean to you and your family? Write your answer inside your Reading Journal.

What was the theme of the movie Grease?

The main theme of the movie also sets up the entire plot; Danny and Sandy met when none of their friends were around and fell in love; yet around their friends, they feel the weight of peer pressure to conform to the image that they have carefully cultivated.

What would you have done to make sure this didn’t ruin your relationship and why?

How old was Danny and Sandi in real life and in there parts in the movie?

Why were they chosen to play Sandy and Danny?

How were they chosen?

Were Danny and Sandy real life singers or dancers or did they have to learn for this movie?
