Lesson Plans for February

February is Black History Month. I have found the following resources you might want to check out not only for Black History Month but I have included other Lessons/ Unit Studies as well.

Unit MLK. Jr. Kids Discover Online– Here you will find a entire Lesson Plan/ Unit Study for MLK. Jr. Including the following Lesson Plans:

Who Was Martin Luther King Jr.?, Race In Nineteenth- Century America, King’s Early Years, Taking A Stand in Montgomery, The Civil Rights Movement Grows, From Selma to Montgomery, The Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Before you study Martin Luther King Jr. you might want to check out the begin by sharing the Civil Rights Unit.

February 1 – The Oxford Dictionary Debuts (1884)– Do you know were Language come from?

February 5 – National Weatherperson Day– Inside here you will find six different lesson plans.

February 6 – Queen Elizabeth Becomes Queen of England (1952) For me I can’t wait to study Kings & Queens. I hope this Lesson Plan/ Unit Study includes Princess Dianna

David is excited it’s time for the Super Bowl which happens on February 7. As for Charlie and I we don’t care much about Football although Charlie does play with his friends.

Which is why I can’t wait to check out Kids Discovers coverage on the Super Bowl

February 12 – Chinese New Year If I was asked what I know about the Chinese New Year I would have to say nothing. Using this lesson plan will let my family learn about this Holiday and how they celebrate it.

February 14 – Valentine’s Day I plan on hosting a Valentines Party and why I set the party up Charlie can visit Kids Discover and study Valentines & the Heart which is perfect for Valentines because this is National Heart Month.

February 15 – President’s Day Did you know February is George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday? Charlie and I will look through this Unit and decide which Presidents he would like to study.

I am curious to see if he will chose Abraham Lincoln or George Washington or someone else? If it was me I think I would chose john F. Kennedy or Ronald Reagan. How about you?

For Music Class I can’t wait to let Charlie know there is a Lesson Plan/ Unit Study on Aretha Franklin and as we work through the Lesson Plan Charlie can look up her Music online for us to play at our Valentines Day Party.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
