Snoweye
All grades, children with parental supervision This website offers a view of ski resorts throughout the world through live cameras in thousands of locations.
Type the resort name into the search engine, or click on the country in the upper toolbar, then the location of your choice, and a new screen appears with thumbnail images from the cameras. Click on an image for a full-screen view. In some cases, the cameras are live streams, and in others, the images are updated at regular intervals throughout the day. (Some cameras only operate seasonally.)
You can extend the learning on this virtual field trip by keeping a world globe handy as you visit various ski resorts – point to the country it’s located in on the globe. Not only do you get a glimpse into life on the ski slopes, but weather throughout the world. If the country is located in the Southern Hemisphere, and the camera operates year-round, you will see a very different weather image at this time of year than you will when visiting ski resorts in the Northern Hemisphere.
