National Read Aloud Month: A Reading Challenge for Kids (and Adults)!

Reading is an integral part of Charlie’s Homeschool Class. I wanted to share a challenge that Here Wee Read is hosting on there site. If you enter this giveaway, you may win a $25 Gift Certificate. Which is nice but that isn’t why I am joining in the challenge. I am joining as I want to show Charlie how critical reading is. Also, it allows us to spend one on one time with each other. With no phones, TV or distractions of any kind. The challenge is National Read Aloud Month: A Reading Challenge for Kids (and Adults)!

I love knowing adults can join this challenge just as well as children.  I always sit down at night and try and read a book. Or a magazine as I have a favorite one I purchase each week.

Learning this challenge is also for adults will allow me to calm down and relax. I shut everyone out of my room and turn the TV off and climb up into my bed and do not talk to anyone until I am done reading my book.

What has become nice is that since David has switched to days, he will come into the bedroom with me at night and lay next to me while I read. He knows not to talk to me until I am through and he doesn’t even ask to turn the tv on which I enjoy as it allows us to be together without any outside attractions.

I would like to know if you read at night and if so where do you go to read your book? Do you have the tv or music when your reading? And do you talk to people when your reading? Have you ever taken a book into the bathroom as I do that a lot of times when I am making a bubble bath? Once I sink into the tub, I never want to get out which bothers Charlie and David because sometimes they want to take a bath or shower and can’t because as they say “I am camped out in the bathroom.” LOL And I guess that is true.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie, and David Cates
