I know David and Charlie will be excited to find out October 7 National Frappé Day #FrappeDay because they both love all kinds of Coffee. Before you ask what about me I only want plain Coffee with Cream and Sugar. The more Cream and Sugar the better.
With all of us being sick and C’s throat hurting now I might surprise Charlie and David with a trip to Dutch Bros. and they can each get them a Frappe to celebrate #FrappeDay with. I will stick with my cup of Hot Tea with Milk and Sugar. Would you want to join me for a cup of Hot Tea? Or would you rather have a Frappe?
#teachingmoment for those of us that aren’t sure what a #Frappe is here is a definition so you can decide if you want to celebrate #FrappeDay or not.
A frappé is a chilled, blended drink that’s typically sweet and refreshing—perfect for warm weather or a caffeine kick with flair. The term comes from the French word frapper, meaning “to hit” or “to chill,” and it’s used to describe beverages that are shaken, blended, or iced.
Here are a few common Types of Frappé
- Coffee Frappé: Originating in Greece, this version is made with instant coffee, water, sugar, and ice, shaken or blended until frothy.
- Frappuccino: Starbucks popularized this creamy, dessert-like version made with coffee or crème base, milk, ice, and flavorings like caramel or mocha.
- Fruit Frappé: A non-coffee version made with fruit juice or purée, ice, and sometimes yogurt or milk.
How It’s Made
Most frappés involve:
- A base (coffee, tea, fruit, or milk)
- Ice
- Sweetener or flavoring
- Blending until smooth and frothy
Would you like a recipe to make a Frappe at home or explore some unique flavor combos? If so leave me a comment and I will get to work on what you’re looking for.
