Summer is ending and I am not prepared

As a parent, one of the things I worry about the most is Charlie and his education. Last year I was Homeschooling Charlie and I worried all the time that I was hindering Charlie and not making sure he was learning all he needed to know to progress to the next grade. So I have been praying and planning on working with Charlie this Summer. Only we were so busy that I failed to work with Charlie the way I should have and I didn’t find a Tutor for Charlie even though I needed to and I know that now more than ever.

As Charlie came and talked to David and I and asked if he would be able to return to school this year as he is going into 5th grade and it would be the last year he would attend school with his friends. So David and I sat down and we discussed the pro and cons of Charlie returning to school.

As a parent, I knew I needed to take it to God and he would lead me to where I needed to be. So after many tears and going back and forth I am announcing Charlie will be returning to public school on August 20th. As I sat down today to fill out the paperwork I couldn’t believe I only have 20 days to get Charlie prepared for 5th grade.

So this week I will be working with Charlie and if the Lord is willing I will be looking into Tutoring for Charlie because I know he will need it for both Math and Reading and like I had learned in the past when I had Suzzane learning doesn’t stop because it is Summertime. Children should study something each and every day.

So from here on out, I plan on being more prepared and having a Tutor on hand each Summer so Charlie can progress through Middle School and High School and not end up so frustrated he decides to quit school like his sister and brother did. Because their parents didn’t get them the help they needed and like Charlie, they also suffer from Dyslexia which is from David.

For those that don’t know it David Charlie’s David can’t read or write and they pushed him through school because he was a Soccer coach and Sports was more important than making sure David was learning the things, he needed to learn. After learning this I didn’t want the same things to happen to Charlie and is why I am adamant that Charlie learns each and every day.

Even if it is just taking 15 minutes a day to read something even if its a box of cereal. As it allows him to practice his reading and will make him a strong reader. Although it may not help him in math and is why I plan on purchasing a math tutor for Charlie. For those of you who don’t know, Suzzane also had ADHD and she went to Tutoring for both Math and Reading along with Homeschooling and when she returned to public school she was in a grade higher than she should have been.

Even though I don’t want Charlie ahead of the other students I would like for him to be on the same grade level his friends are and not to fall behind. Because this leads to other children making fun of Charlie and leads them to Bully him and is what lead to Charlie trying to kill himself and it is why he is homeschooled.

If you’re looking into a Tutor for your student I would like to invite you to check out Apollotutors as this is who we will be checking into this week.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
