Father’s Day – third Sunday

HISTORY OF every 3rd Sunday of June - FATHER'S DAY - Mom Community

A day to honor Dad. NO. Rather, its a day to enjoy time with Dad and appreciate all he does for you. What Dad really wants is healthy, happy and successful kids.

Dad wants you to spend a few moments with him on Father’s Day and today’s life style is busy for both dads and kids. A little time with dad on Father’s Day is just what he wants.

A Father is more than the biological paternal source of our being it is the person who cares and provides for us. It is the man who helps to set the standards, the family values and the example.

Add to this group, step fathers and men who willingly and eagerly accept and cherish the role of being a father. Whether biological, adopted or informally, if they’re the father figure to you, give them recognition today and don’t hesitate to call him “Dad”.

Did you know? The first Father’s Day celebration was in Spokane, WA. on May 18, 1910.

I can still hear some of the things my dad would tell us kids growing up and with him not being here I found Dadism’s to share with Charlie. Take a look and let me know if your dad said any of them.

Finally Summer Day / Summer Solstice – date varies

Happy Summer Solstice | Celebrate the Longest Day of the Year

Date When : June 20, 2021; June 21, 2022; June 21, 2023; June 20, 2024; June 20, 2025

Summer Solstice sometimes referred to as “Midsummer” Litha”. Is the longest day of the year. The amount of daylight only goes down from here….for the next six months (more on that later).

Summer Solstice is the Meteorological start of Summer and its time to enjoy Vacations, great Weather, pools, baseballs, and everything else that goes along with Summer the favorite Season for kids and most adults. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the Season, because for many of us it is all too short.

Did you know? The Sun does not set at the North Pole today and there is 24 hours of Sunlight. Does it make up for that cold day in December when the Sun doesn’t rise above the Horizon? No, but on this day it sure does feel good wherever you are

Ice Cream Soda Day

National Ice Cream Soda Day Wishes

Ice Cream Soda Day is a great way to make Summer cooler. It’s hot. It’s muggy. And, an Ice Cream Soda is a flavorful way to cool off. If only I had Ice Cream because I have Dr. Pepper and Coke just no, Root Beer. Would you like to have a Ice Cream Soda with me? Just bring me some Ice Cream and I will make use one. Especially if you bring Vanilla Ice Cream.

The flavor of Ice Cream Soda is your choice. Any will do. Chocolate and Vanilla are the most popular but, don’t shy away from being creative with the flavor of Ice Cream or Soda you use.

BTW: If you happened to notice, there are numerous “Ice Cream ” days this month. We think you will agree that the Ice Cream manufacturers have done a splendid great job of promoting their product.

The History and Origin of Ice Cream Soda Day:

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day but our money is on the Ice Cream makers as originators of this day. A second possibility is Soda Shops.

National Bald Eagle Day

June 20 is National Bald Eagle Day! www.southwestfloridaeaglecam.com | Bald eagle, Animals, Eagle

American Eagle Day and National Bald Eagle Day are used interchangeably, as the day we celebrate the National Bird of the United States of America. As our National Bird, the Eagle symbolizes freedom, strength, honesty, wisdom and power.

On this day in 1782, the Bald Eagle became our National Bird, and an important National symbol. On this day, the Bald Eagle was added to the official seal of the United States.

The Bald Eagle is portrayed holding 13 arrows in its left talon, symbolizing the original 13 colonies. In its right talon, it holds an Olive branch, a symbol of piece. Did you know that because I didn’t and its a #Homeschool Teaching moment for Charlie.

Did You Know? Our National Bird almost became the Turkey. The virtues of the two birds were hotly debated by Congress, prior to selecting the Bald Eagle as our National Bird. Can you imagine eating Bald Eagles instead of Turkey on Thanksgiving!? I can’t and don’t think I would want to eat a Eagle. How about you?

An important distinction: National Bald Eagle Day is defined as a National “observance”, rather than a Holiday. As a result, government offices, banks and business are open on this day.

Celebrate this special day by:

  • Learning more about our National Bird.
  • Go to a Zoo that has a Bald Eagle. Which for my family could be a #Homeschool Field Trip.
  • Flying the flag. While the Flag itself does not portray a Bald Eagle, the top of the Flag pole is often adorned with a Bald Eagle. Did you know that because Charlie and I didn’t.

The History and Origin of National Bald Eagle Day:

On January 28,1982, then President Ronald Reagan issued a Proclamation in accordance with a joint resolution of Congress (S.J. Res 121) declaring June 20, 1982 to be National Bald Eagle Day

In 1995, then president William Clinton proclaimed June 20, 1995 as American Eagle Day.

While neither of these Presidential Proclamations made the observance an annual event, the American public has celebrated this day annually. This is a true tribute to the Honor and respect we have for our stately and majestic National Bird.

National Turkey Lovers Day – third Sunday in June

Animal Ag Alliance on Twitter: "Happy #FathersDay and National Turkey Lover's Day! #turkeyloversday… "

National Turkey Lovers Day is a special day that just had to be created. When you think about eating Turkey, you usually think about Thanksgiving. To millions of Americans, Turkey is their favorite meal. Not. for me though on Thanksgiving I prefer Ham. What about you?

Why then, don’t we have Turkey more often on any of other 364 days of the year? Perhaps, the answer is simple. Perhaps, we just don’t think about it. Then, along came National Turkey Lovers Day, to remind us to have it in the middle of June.

How do you celebrate National Turkey Lovers Day?

The answer to this question is simple. Eat turkey today. The true participant will eat Turkey for both lunch and dinner. A Turkey sandwich, can be hot or cold, along with Turkey Soup which is the perfect lunch time fare today.

For dinner you have many options. Chances are the weather will be hot, so you won’t want to heat up the kitchen Roasting a traditional Turkey dinner. We suggest you cook the Turkey outdoors: grilling it, smoking it, frying it, or try a Trash Can Turkey. Either way, the Turkey will be delicious. Don’t forget there is a huge variety of Rubs, Oils and Sauces you can put on the Turkey.

Once you enjoy National Turkey Lovers Day, we hope you have Turkey on a regular basis all year round! Which I need to because Turkey is a healthy meat for me to eat on my diet.

The History and Origin of National Turkey Lovers Day:

This Holiday is rather new and was created in 2016 by the National Turkey Federation.
