I wanted to remind you sometimes the simplest things end up being the best ideas. A while back David picked up a cloth placemat from Dollar Tree without really thinking much about it. It wasnât planned as anything specialâjust one of those small finds that ends up in the cart because David thought I would like the saying and the design.
Yesterday we was back at Dollar Tree and I found 2 more cloth placemats one of them had Bees on it and the other place mat said, âBegin each day with kindness.â There has been so much tension and drama in my home that I picked it up to remind everyone to be kind.
I had thought of using the placemat as a placemat on my Coffee bar or the Coffee Table we can’t get to because Gerald has taken it over. Instead, I decided to turn it into wall decor like I had done with the placemat David bought me earlier.
All I need to do it to fold the placemat in half and add it to the artwork I have hanging on the wall. No nails needed and no, more nails in the wall which will make David happy. Although I could purchase a Dollar Store picture frame and hang the placemat hang on the wall.
For me thought I didn’t want complicated steps, and I didn’t want to use extra supplies, or a crafting mess. Just something simple turned into something I actually wanted to see every day. That I could do on my own and not have to wait a hundred years for it to be hung up.
What I like about this idea is how flexible using a cloth placemat is because it works in kitchens, entryways, bedrooms, or even small wall spaces that need something soft and meaningful. I may pick up a second one for my bedroom or bathroom because this would be a good reminder when starting our day.

Dollar Tree actually has a lot of items like this if you start looking at them differently. Placemats, fabric prints, seasonal cloth piecesâthey donât have to stay what they were originally made for. Thatâs what made this one stand out.
It wasnât expensive, it wasnât complicated, but it still added something personal to the space. I didn’t have to break the bank decorating my home. I can change it out as Seasons change. Sometimes thatâs all home decor really needs to be.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
