4 Suitable Materials for Making Cornhole Play Bags

At the mention of these bags, your mind goes back to all the fun you share with your friends in parties or your neighborhood group. These bags are favorite among many families, and many people are learning to make their own. It is interesting how an old game has survived through many generations; enjoyed by people. How do you choose the best bag in the market for this game? How do you know what fabric is the most suitable for these bags? How do you do the right amount of corn to pour into the containers? Find out.

A guide to finding a suitable material

  • Canvas fabric – This is the most basic fabric, and used for many years.  A simple bag is made from highly durable duck canvas and filled with about a pound of corn. Heavy play wears these bags out fast, may need to be replaced within three to four weeks. Insects and rodents love canvas fabric and this wears them out even faster. You have to ensure these bags are kept dry all the time because wetness wears them out. If you are looking to make a long-lasting bag, it is wise not to use canvas because it is not durable.
  • All-weather canvas fabric – This fabric is a highly durable duck canvas that is topped with an all-weather plastic pallet as the outer layer. This fabric is weatherproof as well as rodent and insect resistant, which makes it one of the best materials to use. Cornhole bags made from this fabric tends to last 5 times longer than the normal canvas fabric. This is because the all-weather plastic pellet does not break down as fast even with heavy play.
  • BG Pro Classic Fabric – This classic fabric is one of a kind. It is made of two different materials; microfiber suede on one side and duck canvas on the other. Bags made from this fabric are not filled with corn like other bags but with all-weather plastic pellets. The one major disadvantage of bags made from this fabric is the inability to ensure it lands on the right side which, makes it stick on the board. This can be quite frustrating to the player but it serves as a very good tutor, teaching new players how to throw and become serious with this game.
  • BG PRO 450 Canvas – This fabric is one high standard fabric that has been sanctioned as the tournament bag. The fabric is made from suede fabric on one side and durable duck canvas on the other. This fabric is also filled with all-weather plastic pellets and the only difference it has from the BG PRO Classic is the closing stitch.  This fabric makes bags that are mostly preferred by players due to their seamless or hidden closure, unlike many bags. It is loved by many who are starting out in this game because they get to practice with the same bags that will be used during tournaments.
