Charlie asked me to share a new children’s poetry book meets graphic novel with you. The book is called Beware the Dragon and the Nozzlewock: A Graphic Novel Poetry Collection Full of Surprising Characters! by Vikram Madan and the story is written by Vikram Madan.
Getting Charlie or David to sit down and read a book of any kind is harder than pulling teeth. Unless its a comic book for David and a graphic novel for Charlie. Thanks’ to Vikram Madan is a graphic novel featuring poetry and at times the book reminded my family of a comic book.
I wish you could see the cover of the book done in dark blue/ purple wavy designs made of dots. Look at the Dragon he looks like he is mad. Don’t look behind you because there is a Ghost. In front of you is a Witch. Oh, no which way should we go and why?
Even though there is a Witch and a Ghost the story isn’t scary but funny. Charlie and I liked finding new words we’d ever heard of like “nozzlewocky”. Charlie wanted me to ask if you had heard of “ghost guppies”? If not you will learn about them in the book.
This is a chapter book for middle grad students but I could see younger children laughing at some of the things that happen in the book. Older kids like the graphic novels edge and parents the Poetry making Beware the Dragon and the Nozzlewock the perfect family story book.
Once you begin to read Beware the Dragon and the Nozzlewock you will not want to put the book down which is full of suspense, drama and even laugh out loud fun at times. All schools and libraries should have this book on hand. I hope you take the time to check out the book with your family.
