Movie Nights are huge in my home not only with my family but our friends and extended family we have join us for movies. I can’t wait to dive into The Ultimate Chick Flick Cookbook with Charlie and David which will enhance our love of movies and cooking.
I had fun looking at the cover of the book with the VCR Tapes on it. I had fun quizzing Charlie and his friends to see if they knew what they were. The Cookbook is a paperback book which can be wiped off. Its flexible enough to fit into our bags and not take up a lot of room.
The illustrations are amazing. I like how open the Author is about his lifestyle and the things he did as a child. Like me he loves movies and being inside more. Romantic Movies and some musicals are his choice of movies but I love both genres and Charlie and David will tolerate them. Like me he is a crier.
The book begins with appetizers as much as I love Pretty Women I’m going to pass on Slippery Little Suckers which is Escargot. How about you? Miss Congeniality isn’t a movie I remember but will watch soon. Want to join me?
I will have Baby’s Leftover Pot Roast and watch Dirty Dancing and I can purchase the album for us to listen to if you want to join me. Next up is dinners Charlie has been wanting to try Lobster and I will make David and Charlie Whole Fresh Lobster with Coleslaw and Corn On the Cob for me by Dionne Warwick from My Best Friends Wedding.
Now were speaking my language as we dive into desserts. Let’s watch Clueless another movie I’m not sure I’ve seen the whole movie with Aww, Honey You baked Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies Cough Log Baked Whole With Your Favorite Toppings.
There is even recipes from The Notebook and Thelma and Lousie all that’s mixing is recipes from Footloose and Grease. Remember The Ultimate Chick Flick Cookbook isn’t just for women but cooks of all kind from children to adults as long as they love Rom-Coms.
There is conversations in the back of the book with more information on the Author and blank pages for any changes or notes we want to make on the recipes once we get to cooking. Which would be the sooner the better isn’t it?

About the Author: Richard S. Sargent
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some of his earliest memories are sitting in front of the TV and watching movies. While his friends were playing outside, you could often find him popping in a VHS tape or taking advantage of the free promotional HBO weekend.
Today, he is an award-winning actor, director, producer, author and filmmaker. You can find his first well-received film cookbook, The Horror Movie Night Cookbook (Ulysses Press, 2023), online or at your local bookstore.
A few of his short plays can be found on Amazon, published through Left Coast Publishing. With a lifelong interest in creative cooking, most of Richard’s day jobs were in restaurants or on food trucks. After taking some cooking classes in NYC, he decided doing it for a living would take all of the fun out of it.
His film cookbook series is a way for him to keep it fun, not just for himself but for the audience as well. When he isn’t working on his next cookbook or upcoming feature film, he can be found rehearsing in the theatre or making tunes recording studio, or yes, on the couch watching movies. Check out his alt-rock band The Green Winter, which he formed with his husband, on Apple and Spotify. And find him on Facebook and Instagram (@moviecookbookseries).
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
