I wish you could see the front of the book the Tuttle Twins are standing in front of the coolest red Convertible I would like to jump into and take a ride and feel the wind in my hair. Would you want to come with me?

One of the Tuttle Twins has a actual newspaper and the other twins has a Camcorder which I wish I had. How about you? Look there is a sign that says “homes for sale.” Would you want a home here? Depending on where it is I might.

There family was going to La Playa there favorite Beach. I wish I could go with them. Don’t you? The word they usually take was blocked off. Not only where they going to visit the Beach but la Plays Boardwalk for food and games. I wish I could go with them. How about?

They get to the Beach and meet up with there family for a reunion a #teachingmoment” for those of us #Homeschooling our children. Next is lunch at La Playa Lane. Are you hungry? Would you want to go with the Twins and there family?

Look at the Seagulls aren’t they cute? People ask there Uncle for his picture because his videos were pretty famous. If only mine and Charlie’s TickTock and YouTube videos were. As they walk along they find stores they used to shop at is closed.

There Uncle gives the Twins a camera and a microphone so they could ask shop owners of they new why stores were closing. The find out the businesses are moving to Surfdom because of the closed road into new buildings.

The owner the Twins talked to let them know he wasn’t moving because the building in Surdom cost to much but if traffic gets slower for him he will close. We learn about the “Master Transportation Plan”. They drive to the neighborhood where all the traffic was.

A lot of the houses had been put up for sale because of the traffic, Then they find out the Creamery is closing and that would eliminate jobs. They drive to Surfdom and see lots of new houses and businesses that had closed.

They return home where Granpa would be playing the “Ukulele” around the Fire. In a music class you could visit a Music Store to check out a ukulele in person. They stop to talk to one more person who lets them know the government stole his land. We learn about “Aqui esta!” “eminent domain” another #teachingmoment.

Next we learn about “central planning” and no, I’m not going to tell you what it is you need to check out The Tuttle Twins and the Road to Surfdom if you want to know. Another spelling word Charlie would have had was “individualism” and ‘collectivism’.

The family decides to return home and some of the want to stay in the Hotel at Surdom but the Twins want to go back to Beach House at la Playa. I would like to go with the Twins. What about you. Where would you like to stay and why?

“Omniscient” was another word we had to look up leading to another #Teachingmoment”. Do you knw what “untended consequences” are? Make sure you finish the story so you know what happens after the Video comes out.

In the back of The Tuttle Twins and the Road To Surfdom is discussion questions and a glossary with words we came across. As well as information on the Author. Don’t forget to check out the Activity Workbook. This is a chapter book for upper Middle Elementary students.

About the book:

A twisted tale of unintended consequences unfolds!

Ethan and Emily investigate a new road built to take travelers to a beach named Surfdom—and the disruption it brings to an entire community.

New ideas and growth can sound exciting and beneficial, but the twins discover that there are unintended consequences that sometimes don’t receive enough attention from the decision makers and media when powerful people are determined to implement their plan.
