Homelessness is something that is taking over my Town and it breaks my heart. My family doesn’t have money to purchase food for the homelessness and a lot of time we don’t even have change to hand to them because were living paycheck to paycheck.

In Meant for More: Following Your Heart and Finding Your Purpose the Author shares her journey, and her life’s journey. The Author shows has she always knew she was here to give and her family was pretty well off. The Author writes about complex relationships with her father and her mother. Which I had as well.

After her mother passed, her mom’s passing devasted her just as my daughter did me. Her mom’s also made an impact on her life, after she went through grief, denial, and how she thought she should’ve seen her mother’s illness which we don’t see a lot of time. The Author thought she should have seen it for what it was, not what she thought it was.

I love how the Author took a heartbreak, and made something of her life which is what I’ve tried to do. The Author took the time to learn about her mother’s mental illness, and her father’s strive for perfection, and came to realize how to live her own life, in a way to help others, sand the Author let us know she always felt she was meant for more in her life just as I do.

Meant for More grabs you from the first pages and pulls you in when the book is over you will be asking what happened next which makes a great boo. Meant for More inspires folks familiar with Family Promise to continue their involvement and folks new to Family Promise to get involved, share their time, experiences, love and caring with children and their ‘families’ experiencing homelessness.

Karen shares examples that show it will be the most rewarding thing you have ever done. Her example of helping Millie, involving her sons in feeding hungry folks, then organizing her community to work together to help has been a catalyst for thousands of volunteers in 200 communities.

The easy to replicate network is the lowest cost way to help and the Author explains it clearly.
The book is easy for everyone of all ages to understand and the story is motivating, encouraging and inspirational. I can’t wait to see what my family and friends can do in our Community to help the homeless. Would you want to help us?

About the book:

What happens when we act on our innate kindness?

It all started with a chance encounter outside of Grand Central Station in November 1981. Karen Olson, a successful marketing executive, was on her way to a business meeting when she saw an elderly homeless woman—her shoulders sagging, her eyes dull. Impulsively, Karen darted across the street and bought the woman a sandwich and an orange juice. She listened to the woman’s story and learned her name: Millie.

This small act of kindness changed the trajectory of Karen’s life. Karen dedicated her life to those in need and founded Family Promise, a national nonprofit organization that helps homeless and low-income families.

In Meant for More, Karen tells her story, from tragedy in childhood to an adulthood full of compassion and service, which has made her stronger, healthier, and more fulfilled than ever before. Many people seek happiness through acquiring material goods or achieving status, only to find a lack of fulfillment. With firsthand testimonials from Karen and other volunteers, Meant for More is a call to action: when you reach out beyond yourself and seek to make a difference in the lives of others, happiness will catch up with you.
