Charlie and I wanted to share another #Holiday that falls on August 30th Frankenstein Day #FrankensteinDay. When #Homeschooling your students and thinking outside the box Frankenstein would be one cool dude to study Charlie said.

I’ve put together Frankenstein Day Homeschool Resources — and let’s bring Mary Shelley’s monster to life in your curriculum! When studying Framke Stein don’t forget to study Mary Shelly as well.

August 30th marks Frankenstein Day, allowing us to celebrate the birth of Mary Shelley and her iconic novel. Here are some fun homeschool ideas to make the #Homeschooling educational and fun:

Literature & Critical Thinking

  • Frankenstein Online Book Study: Literary Adventures for Kids offers a teen-friendly study that covers vocabulary, grammar, literary analysis, and even geography related to the novel.
  • Discussion Prompts:
    • What does it mean to be human?
    • Who is the real monster—Victor or the creature?
    • How does isolation affect identity?

🎨 Creative Activities

  • Easy Frankenstein Craft: A hands-on paper craft for younger kids using a free printable template. Great for fine motor skills and Halloween bulletin boards.
  • Monster Collage: Let kids design their own “Frankenstein” using magazine clippings, fabric scraps, and imagination.

Science Tie-In

  • Electricity & Anatomy: Use Frankenstein as a springboard to explore basic circuits or human anatomy. Build a simple battery-powered light or label body systems.
  • Ethics in Science: Discuss the moral implications of scientific discovery and experimentation.

Drama & Role Play

  • Reader’s Theater: Act out scenes from the Frankenstein novel or create a parody version.
  • Monster Interviews: Have students role-play as Frankenstein’s creature and answer questions about his life and feelings.

Bonus Fun

For even more fun when learning about Frankenstein host a Movie Night using Frankenstein: Complete Legacy Collection [DVD]. Then get the kids into the kitchen for a Cooking Class and make Cookies in the shape of Frankenstein. End the night with a reading from the novel Frankenstein: Kid Classics: The Classic Edition Reimagined Just-for-Kids! (Kid Classic, Book 2).

Thank you,
