Life is funny Charlie’s upcoming Birthday has been on my mind a lot this past week. I was setting up my desk for items I needed to review and share with you this week. I came across a new addition to our Christmas Gift Guide 2025: You Can Throw A Party! by Jan Gniffke Illustrated by Rebeca Pintos. I received a copy of the book in exchange for this review. I believe there are milestone Birthdays that should be celebrated in a child’s like including from 1 to 10, 12, 16, 18 and 21. After that it’s up to the child to decide if they want a Birthday Party or not. For Charlie he turns 18 this year and has said no, party just dinner.
Charlie doesn’t know his mom and his grandmother because there is going to be a small party somewhere. Having a copy of You Can Throw A Party! reminded me of things I will need to do and get. It has helped me stay calm and not panic which is a Godsend.
I wish Charlie and Suzzie had a chance to meet the Author Jan Gniffke because like Peter Pan and myself she has chosen to never grow up. She also has a rescue Dog like we do. She makes Monster Cookies which David loves. I know Charlie will love learning her faith and family are her foundation just like ours.
You Can Throw A Party! is a pretty blue book with a little Girl and her Cat on the cover. Let me tell you that Cat doesn’t look so happy. I love how the Author reminds us we can throw a party just because were worth celebrating.
The Author sure knows how to help children have fun in the morning. When hosting your party, the Author reminds us to invite all the animals around us. Wouldn’t that make the party a lot more fun for everyone?
Have everyone dress up like Pirates and Mermaid and host a costume party set on the high Seas. Or a Rock Star party. My favorite as long as there is plenty of music. How about throwing the party at your School and invite everyone?
Or in the Arcade near your home. Or at the Zoo and David said if the party is at the Zoo he really wants to come. Find a Fair and host a party there. Wouldn’t that be fun? How about hosting the party at the park? When throwing the party mail out invitations to everyone you know.
They can come from far and wide to your celebration. Let’s throw a party and pretend were on Mars. Don’t forget the costumes and to make a Rocket Ship. Let’s get busy and get the party thrown right now. Remember everyone can come just the way they are no presents needed.
I love how in the back of You Can Throw A Party! the Author has included an invitation from her to celebrate today and every day. We all have value. Remember everyone is unique. There are even questions for us to answer which can be used at any time but would make a wonderful addition to a #Homeschool Lesson Plan on parties and feelings.

About the Author
Jan Gniffke is an artist and author who, like Peter Pan, has chosen to never grow up. She can often be found amongst her children’s book collection writing, painting, or creating. Her furry companion Maggie, a Labradoodle rescue, is always by her side. She is known for her irresistible Monster Cookies that are highly coveted by friends and family. Jan is a wife and a mother of two grown children. Her faith and family are her foundation. She lives in Minnesota and has a heart for volunteering with nonprofit youth organizations in her community.
As a child, Rebeca J. Pintos used to paint the walls of her grandmother’s house and dreamed of traveling to fantastic worlds. Since then she has not stopped painting or traveling. Since 2010, she has been working for publishers and magazines as a freelance illustrator specializing in children’s literature. She also uses her drawings to collaborate with the campaigns of NGOs and international organizations. You can find her works published in various countries, mainly the United States. In order to preserve the white of the walls of her house, her grandmother taught her to sew. When she’s not drawing, she sews.
