- Chicago’s Christkindlmarket takes the top spot, pulling in an average of 44,445 searches a month – almost three times the interest of any other Christmas market in the country.
- In second place is Philadelphia’s Christmas Village, attracting 15,681 average monthly searches as people look for that cozy, European-style Christmas vibe right in the middle of the city.
- Several of the top markets have become little destinations in their own right, showing how Christmas markets are slowly becoming mini holiday-travel spots for a lot of people.
As Mariah Carey says every year – it’s time! And you can really feel it. The lights go up, the air gets colder and suddenly everyone decides a Christmas market is exactly what they need. It’s chaotic, sure, but it’s the good kind of chaos we all lean into this time of year.
But according to a new study, one market is standing miles ahead of the rest in terms of popularity, with more searches than the next few combined. The analysis comes from crypto casino Winna, who looked at 22 different Christmas-market search terms like “market hours” and “market location” to see which festive spots people are really interested in.
Texas finding:
Texas earns a spot in the top 20 with Arlington’s Christkindlmarkt ranking 16th at 1,021 average monthly searches. It may not draw the same crowds as the big national favorites, but it highlights how Christmas markets are becoming part of the holiday season even in warmer, less traditionally “Christmassy” states.
The 10 most popular Christmas markets in America:

| 1 | Christkindlmarket | Chicago, IL | 44,445 |
| 2 | Christmas Village | Philadelphia, PA | 15,681 |
| 3 | Christkindlmarkt | Carmel, IN | 11,460 |
| 4 | Christmas Market | Cambria, CA | 10,568 |
| 5 | Columbus Circle Holiday Market | New York City, NY | 8,353 |
| 6 | Christkindlmarkt | Cincinnati, OH | 2,785 |

| 8 | Christmas Market | Georgetown, CO | 2,089 |
| 9 | European Christmas Market | St Paul, MN | 2,039 |
| 10 | Julefest | Solvang, CA | 2,038 |
The data makes it pretty obvious: Chicago’s Christkindlmarket is the one everyone wants to visit this year. The traditional German market racks up an average of 44,445 searches a month – almost three times more interest than any other Christmas market in America.
Philadelphia’s Christmas Village takes second place, pulling in 15,681 searches a month. With its Center City setting and familiar mix of food stalls, gifts and lights, it’s become a go-to spot for anyone wanting that big, festive Christmas feeling.
Carmel, Indiana’s Christkindlmarkt and Cambria, California’s Christmas Market both rank highly too, drawing in 11,460 and 10,568 average monthly searches, respectively. It shows how much people enjoy a festive market day out in completely different corners of the country.
New York City’s Columbus Circle Holiday Market rounds out the top five with 8,353 average monthly searches. Its location next to Central Park makes it a natural place to wander through if you’re after handmade gifts, good food or that unmistakable NYC-in-December atmosphere.
There’s a big drop after the top five. Cincinnati’s Christkindlmarkt pulls in an average of 2,785 monthly searches – still a solid number, but it’s a huge 94% lower than Chicago’s.
Tennessee’s “Dickens of a Christmas” in Franklin and Colorado’s Georgetown Christmas Market follow next, averaging 2,130 and 2,089 monthly searches, respectively. Both still draw plenty of interest from people looking for smaller, storybook-style holiday markets.
The European Christmas Market in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Solvang’s Julefest in California wrap up the top ten, pulling in almost identical search numbers – an average of 2,039 and 2,038 searches a month, respectively. Clearly, people love a festive market no matter the coast.
“Heading into the holiday season, it’s clear people are already looking up where they want to go for that Christmas market feeling,” said Paul Mertens, CEO of Winna. “As soon as the lights and music appear in the stores, it puts people in that mindset – and it’s a good time to plan, particularly for the larger markets that tend to get crowded the closer we get to Christmas.
“What really drives these searches is nostalgia. There’s something about Christmas markets that taps into that cozy, old-world feeling people crave during the holidays. Whether it’s a German-style market in the Midwest or a tiny community event in a mountain town, the demand shows people want a little escape with good food and warm drinks.
“Chicago’s lead makes perfect sense when you look at the big picture. It’s one of the most established Christmas markets in the country, it’s centrally located, and it has that authentic European feel people love. For many Americans, Christkindlmarket is a tradition at this point.”
Methodology:
Monthly average search volume data was taken from Google Keyword Planner for the past 12 months. The combined search volume for each Christmas market’s search terms was calculated, and then used to rank the Christmas market from the highest number of average monthly searches to the lowest.
