The Night I Finally Let Go

Families Parenting/ Families

It’s 8:00 PM — time most people are finally settling down, and tonight was The Night I Finally Let Go. Yes, I let go. Have you ever done that?

When the house finally quieted, I stepped onto the balcony with my blanket and my Sweet Tea although I was thinking a glass of Wine or a shot of Tequila might be nice as well. The sky was soft. The air was kind. And I felt myself exhale in a way I hadn’t all day.

The missing hour didn’t break me. It reminded me.

Reminded me that I don’t have to be perfect. Reminded me that God fills the gaps I can’t. Reminded me that life is lived in the messy middle, not the polished edges.

And as I sat there, listening to the night settle around me, I whispered a little prayer:

“Lord, thank You for the hour I lost… and the grace I found after.”

May you keep all my friends and family safe as we get ready for a new day.

What wasn’t finished today will not break me.

Thank you,
