It’s time for my Day 2 check-in for the 7-Day Water & Walking Challenge! I choose the name I Think I Can challenge because just like the little Engine who thought he could I can and I. I don’t know about you I always enjoy looking back at the previous day to see how I did because it reminds me that every little bit of progress adds up. Even one step means I’ve moved and with my health issues and wanting to lose weight that is one step closer to my goal.
Before I share my story, here are my Day 2 results at a glance.
Day 2 at a Glance
💧 Water: 80 ounces ✅
👣 Steps: 4,644
⏱️ Active Time: 51 minutes
🔥 Active Calories: 144
🔥 Total Calories Burned: 1,440
📍 Distance: 2.17 miles
🎯 Goal Met? Yes! I reached my water goal and once again exceeded my daily step goal.
Yesterday I walked 4,644 steps. That’s just a little less than Day 1, when I walked 4,679 steps, but I’m perfectly happy with that. I know there were several times during the day when I wasn’t carrying my phone, so I’m sure I actually walked more than what it recorded.
One thing I’m learning already is that I don’t have to beat yesterday’s numbers to have a successful day. My goal isn’t to compete with myself every day. My goal is simply to keep moving. No, matter how that looks on my phone at the end of the day it just matters that I go up and moved.
I was able to get in plenty of walking around the house, and later David and I went to Walmart to pick up a few things for dinner. While we were there, I took my time and walked as much of the store as I could. I even kept telling David that I had forgotten something so we could walk a little farther! I’m not sure if David knew what I was doing but I had a good laugh about it, but every extra step helped me get closer to my goal.
When we got home, I found out that our swimming pool is finally open! I’m excited because I’m hoping to spend some time walking in the pool this summer. I know my phone probably won’t be able to count those steps, but that’s okay. Thirty minutes of walking in the water is still exercise, and it still counts toward building healthier habits.
I’m also thankful that I reached my water goal again yesterday. Drinking 80 ounces of water is becoming part of my daily routine, and I’m finding that taking it one glass at a time makes it much easier. Although even that is hard at times because as much as I hate to admit I hate water. How about you?
This challenge is already teaching me that progress isn’t measured only by numbers on a screen. It’s measured by showing up each day, making healthier choices, and refusing to give up. It’s also giving me the confidence I needed to get out more.
If you’re joining me in this challenge, I’d love to hear how you’re doing. Whether you walked 500 steps or 5,000 steps, whether you drank all your water or you’re still working toward that goal, I’d love for you to share your progress in the comments so we can encourage one another.
Remember, even one step is better than no steps at all. Even if you miss a day or don’t reach every goal, tomorrow is a brand-new opportunity to begin again. Just like the Little Engine that kept believing, I’m going to keep telling myself, “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.” And with God’s help, I know I can.
I hope you have a beautiful and blessed day, and I’ll see you tomorrow for our next check-in!
