Day 3 of our Red, White & Blue Family Countdown!

The Mommies Reviews

My family would like to welcome you back to Day 3 of our Red, White & Blue Family Countdown! In my Town they shot off the fireworks last night and also in Fort Worth but there is still plenty of Fireworks being shot off this weekend. I wanted to help you keep your pets safe during the festivities.

For me tomorrow is one of the most exciting days of the summer. Families gather for backyard cookouts, neighborhood celebrations, parades, and fireworks. While we’re busy making memories, it’s easy to forget that our pets may be having a completely different experience.

Many dogs and cats become frightened by loud noises and flashing lights. Even pets that normally stay calm can become anxious when fireworks begin. That’s why today is the perfect time to make a plan before the celebrations start.

Taking a few minutes now can help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable throughout the holiday. The first step is making sure your pets stay indoors before fireworks begin. Close windows, doors, and curtains to reduce outside noise and flashing lights. Turn on a television, fan, or calming music to help mask the sound.

If your pet already has a favorite room, bed, or blanket, set up a quiet space where they can relax. Having familiar surroundings often helps reduce stress. Before the holiday begins, check that your pet is wearing an ID tag with current information.

If your pet has a microchip, make sure your contact information is up to date. Unfortunately, more pets go missing around the Fourth of July than almost any other time of year because they become frightened and run away. If you have a dog, try taking them for a longer walk earlier in the day before the evening celebrations begin.

Getting exercise beforehand may help them settle down later. Remember that fireworks are beautiful to us, but they can be confusing and frightening to our pets. A little planning today can help everyone enjoy a safer holiday tomorrow for not only our pets but ourselves as well.

We hope you’ll print today’s checklist and place it on your refrigerator as a reminder before the festivities begin..
