An End to Arguing

Welcome to another blog tour featuring WOW! WOMEN ON WRITING TOUR OF An End to Arguing written by Linda and Charlie Bloom’s Tour which begins February 20th. As a part of the tour, I received a copy of An End To Arguing.

I am sure there is a lot of couples out there like me who says they wish they didn’t argue with their spouse, but they do. In our home it’s gotten so bad at times that I’ve actually thought of leaving. But when I think about starting over without David, I know I wouldn’t be happy. No. matter how many times we argue I love David and I wouldn’t be who I am without David.

The more I thought about our lives since having to move from our home and into this apartment our finances have tripled. David’s workload has doubled just so I can be home with Charlie. But the LORD has been seeing that I’ve been making more money that I ever have. Not knowing if this is going to keep happening, I’ve been scared.

I finally decided things had to change not only in my marriage but with my relationship with Charlie and school. The LORD had me go into the dining room the other day to pick up a book out of the floor Charlie had knocked off the table. I picked it up and looked at the title An End to Arguing and it felt like the LORD was nudging me to open the book.

I didn’t want to listen, and I sat the book aside and that evening David and I had the worse fight we had in a while which upset Charlie who let us know her was ready to move out if things didn’t change. David went on to bed. I sat down on the couch, and I opened up An End to Arguing and before I knew what was happening, I was reading a chapter at a time and making notes on how I could change things.

The next morning, I handed a list to David and one to Charlie. I let them know about my fears and the stress I have been under. As well as the health issues I had been keeping to myself. By the time they finished reading their letters both of them knew we had to change things. Without insurance we couldn’t go to a counselor.

I showed the book to David and Charlie and asked both of them to read the first two chapters and if they felt the book wouldn’t help them then we would split up. By the time they finished the second chapter they were being much kinder to each other and discussing ways to help each other out. An End to Arguing gave me not only my marriage back but my son and my family.

Every counselor should have a copy of An End to Arguing in their office to share with their clients as well as in Pastors Offices. Anytime any of my friends or family are getting married I will be giving them a copy of this book to keep them from dealing with the things my family has dealt with. I hope you take the time to check out this book as soon as possible.

About:

Now more than ever, couples need guidance for navigating conflict wisely and skillfully. Drawing on insights from their work with couples since 1975, the Blooms offer practical tools and strategies that apply to all relationships. An End to Arguing convincingly shows how destructive conflicts can be avoided and provides stimulus for individual and interpersonal growth. They use compelling examples from their clinical work and their own fifty-year marriage, which has had its share of challenges.

An End to Arguing doesn’t just provide a way of preventing differences from turning into painful conflict; it gives the reader an insight into what qualities are inherent in argument-free relationships. The way of getting there may be simpler than you think!
