Am I Weird?: A Book about Finding Your Place When You Feel Like You Don’t Fit In by Jennifer Licate

Eva feels insecure, like she’s a middle school misfit.

This is the story of a young girl who longs to be invited to the parties and included in the sleepovers but feels invisible and ignored. Is it because she’s artsy and her fashion tastes are peculiar? Is her kindness mistaken for boringness? Or is she an actual weirdo?

As Eva questions everything about who she is, can the love of her parents and the wisdom of a loyal friend help her regain a sense of self-worth?

Am I Weird? is a compelling chapter book that speaks to the not-so-hidden fears every middle schooler has about fitting in, feeling insecure and staying true to yourself even when it’s scary.

This quick-read chapter book is part of the Navigating Friendships series, which is great for students in Grades 4 through 7 who are struggling with changing friendships, learning about self-advocacy, and figuring out how to get along with others.

I Lost My BFF Published by Jennifer Licate

Sometimes, best friends forever isn’t FOREVER.

Sophia and Camila are besties. They talk every day, laugh at the same jokes and share the same Hollywood dreams. They are inseparable!

So imagine Sophia’s surprise when Camila starts spending more time with Christabel. Sophia is heartbroken and she starts to wonder if she is losing her BFF. Sophia becomes jealous and confused because Camila is supposed to have her back, and now she is betraying their friendship. Or is she? What’s wrong with making new friends? Couldn’t Sophia make new friends, too?

Through honest conversations and open-mindedness, Sophia, Camila, Christabel, and Jewel soon learn that it’s okay for friends to have other good friends, and not everyone needs to like to do the same things all of the time. If they are kind and respectful toward one another, their friendships can grow and change.

This quick-read chapter book is part of the Navigating Friendships series, which is great for students in Grades 4 through 7 who are struggling with changing friendships, learning about self-advocacy, and figuring out how to get along with others.

He’s Not Just Teasing! A Book about the Difference Between Teasing and Bullying (Navigating Friendships) Published by Jennifer Licate

A tale about the fragile friendships of boys and their willingness to stand up for others

Malcolm has a problem. And his name is Joe.

Malcolm is often the target of good-natured ribbing because he’s an excitable scatterbrain. Malcolm knows the jokes and laughs at his expense are all in good fun and sometimes even teach him a lesson. But the snark coming from Joe isn’t funny.

Joe taunts and bullies Malcolm. When he attacks, Malcolm’s friends do nothing. They are silent bystanders, and Malcolm is left to wonder why. Can he find the courage to ask them for help, or will Malcolm have to stand up for himself?

He’s Not Just Teasing! is a tale about bullying, the fragile friendships of boys, the willingness to stand up for others and the power of kindness.

This quick read chapter book is part of the Navigating Friendships series, which is great for 4th-7th graders who are struggling with changing friendships, learning about self-advocacy, and figuring out how to get along with others.

Spark and the League of Ursus Published by Robert Repino

“Grab a flashlight and burrow under the covers! Spark and the League of Ursus is the perfect bedtime adventure, with a fierce, fluffy hero you’ll want by your side when the lights go out.”—Kirsten Miller, New York Times bestselling co-author of Nightmares!

Toy Story
meets Stranger Things in this epic tale of Warrior Teddy Bears and the children they protect.

Spark is not your average Teddy Bear. She’s soft and cuddly, sure, but she’s also a fierce Warrior. At night she fulfills her sacred duty: to protect the household from Monsters. But Spark’s owner Loretta is growing up and thinks she doesn’t need her old Teddy anymore.

When a Monster unlike any other descends on the quiet home, everything changes. Children are going missing, and the Monster wants Loretta next. Only Spark can stop it. She must call upon the ancient League of Ursus—a secret alliance of teddy bears who are pledged to protect their human friends. Together with an Amazon-princess doll and a timid sock monkey, the bears are all that stands between our world and the one that lies beneath. It will be a heroic chapter in the history of the League . . . if the bears live to tell the tale.

The adventure continues in Spark and the Grand Sleuth
