Cocktail Party Kit Review: The Recipe for a Fun Night In

The other day I was in the Dollar Tree and I found three kits including the Cocktail Party Kit Review: The Recipe for a Fun Night In, the Book Club Kit and Date Night Kit Activities for Flirty Fun for David and I but also Mikalyia and Charlie.

For me there is something fun about finding unexpected entertainment ideas at the dollar store, and this little cocktail party kit from Dollar Tree turned out to be one of those surprisingly creative finds. For only $1.50, the “Recipe for a Great Night” cocktail party kit comes packed with enough games, recipe ideas, and party extras to turn an ordinary evening into a themed night with friends, family, or even a cozy at-home date night.

Inside the kit you get four coasters, one host guide, eight drink awards, sixteen drink markers, and ten recipe cards. What makes this set especially entertaining is that it is not just about drinking. The entire concept can easily be turned into a mocktail night, dessert drink party, girls’ night, couples’ game night, or even a retro movie-themed gathering.

My favorite part of the Cocktail Kit were the cocktail recipe cards which includes classics like the Dirty Martini, Old Fashioned, and Espresso Martini. Of course, the Cosmopolitan was my favorite because it brings back memories of Sex and the City and all those glamorous girls’ nights from the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

Would you want to join me for a Cosmopolitan-themed evening paired with an 80s or 90s fashion throwback would honestly make such a fun party idea? Even better, every recipe can be turned into a non-alcoholic mocktail version so everyone can join the fun. Plus, we can dress up.

For David and I the host guide is where this kit really shines. It walks you through planning your own “BYOC” — Bring Your Own Cocktail — party. Guests can bring their favorite mixers, garnishes, syrups, sodas, or themed ingredients to create drinks together.

I love how in the Cocktail Kit they even suggest party themes, and some of them are genuinely adorable and they are based on favorite movies, childhood cartoons, fictional characters, TV shows, albums, seasons, and holidays. Imagine a The Golden Girls cocktail night, a The Beatles inspired playlist party, or a retro television marathon featuring Friends while everyone creates themed drinks and snacks.

Yes, the drinks could be Coffee based as a throwback to the Friends show and the Coffee Shop, they hung out in or a Cheers party for the guys. Or how about letting everyone choose their own movie and make a drink and we have to guess what movie the drink is based on? Wouldn’t that be fun?

The party awards might have been my sister’s favorite part of the entire kit because guests can vote on categories like Best Overall Creation, Most Creative Garnish, Sweetest Drink, Prettiest Drink of course it would need to be pink if you asked Suzzie, Strongest Drink, and Best Cocktail Name.

There was a star rating system too. One star could mean “needs work,” while five stars could mean “party perfection.” Of course that is what my drink would get. What about your drink? It turns the entire evening into an interactive game instead of just sitting around chatting.

The Cocktail Kit also included drink markers which was another clever addition because guests can label their glasses with the names of their drinks. If everyone gets creative with names, it becomes part of the entertainment. Add themed snacks, finger foods, desserts, and maybe a nostalgic movie playlist, and suddenly a simple night at home feels like a planned event. All for $1.50.

The Cocktail Party would also pair perfectly with our other entertainment-inspired posts and themed gatherings. If you enjoyed this review, make sure to check out our Date Night Kit feature for more at-home fun ideas, and our Book Club posts for themed reading nights, cozy snacks, and conversation starters that make staying home feel special again.

For such an inexpensive little package, this Cocktail Kit actually encourages creativity, conversation, and memory-making. Whether you use it for cocktails, mocktails, coffee drinks, dessert creations, or themed party fun, it is an affordable way to make an ordinary evening feel a little more exciting. Sometimes the best memories really do start with simple ideas, good snacks, favorite shows, and a few people gathered around the table laughing together.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
