I don’t know if your children are or not but my Niece Lily is horse-crazy. If she had been #Homeschooling her mom could have turned that passion into a powerful learning experience. Even though we aren’t #Homeschooling teaching should happen all the time so I’ve shared educational homeschool resources and lesson ideas centered around Horses for Lily and her family. I thought you might want to check the resources out as well.

Horse-Themed Unit Studies

Literature & Lapbooks

  • All About Horses Lapbook: Great for young elementary students to learn horse basics through hands-on projects.
  • Black Beauty Lapbook: Combines literature and horse study for grades 2–4.
  • Leonardo’s Horse Lapbook: Integrates history, art, and science for older elementary students.

Horse Science & Anatomy

Hands-On Learning

  • Horseback Riding Lessons: If you have the means and the opportunity enroll your child in local horseback riding lessons to complement their studies.
  • Notebooking Pages: Create breed profiles, track horse care routines, or journal about equine behavior.

Cross-Curricular Integration

  • Math: Calculate feed costs, stable measurements, or horse speed.
  • History: Study horses in warfare, agriculture, or famous breeds.
  • Art: Sketch horses, design stables, or explore equine sculpture.
