Grades 3-8, with parental supervision

A Maryland ClickScholar suggested this website that offers a free, downloadable fitness curriculum titled “Operation FitKids” written by the American Council on Exercise.

When you get to the site, you’ll see some featured articles, facts, research, and recipes. Below that, you’ll see the words “Operation FitKids” with a description of the course. Below that, click on the words “Download Curriculum.” A new page opens where you must register (free) to download the curricula that include:

  • Free Youth Fitness Curriculum: Grades 3 – 5

Get 7 lessons that teach kids about fitness and nutrition, heart health, safe walking techniques, healthy snack choices, the importance of strength exercises and stretching, how to read food labels, ways to reduce fat and calories in fast food meals, and how to achieve a healthy, active lifestyle.

  • Free Youth Fitness Curriculum: Grades 6 – 8

Get 7 lessons that teach students about healthy eating, cardio exercises, nutrition and food serving sizes, reading labels, keeping muscles fit, the importance of fiber, how to stay physically fit, and how to make nutritious snacks and meals.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
