March, 2021 Homeschooling Teaching Resources

After the last couple months Spring is around the corner. Charlie and I can’t wait. For children attending Public School Spring Break will be happening for them. But those of us Homeschooling may be going year round and I wanted to share March, 2021 Homeschooling Teaching Resources.

I am Praying the Weather is going to start getting warmer. We will have more daylight which means Charlie will want to stay outside even longer.

Even if your Spring Break isn’t until April, I’m sure your students are already starting to get antsy or at least Charlie and I are. This year we will not be taking Spring Break off because Charlie has a lot of work to catch up on.

To help us prepare I have created a list for March, 2021 Homeschooling Teaching Resources for you to use. If you have studied any of the resources I mentioned let me know what resources you used and why.

Women’s History Month

In the beginning of the United States, women helped make our country what it is today and some was behind the scenes. Including Voting which wasn’t granted until 1920.

March is Women’s History Month giving us the opportunity to share  Revolutionary Women Unit telling about the war effort from home. Or you can teach your students about Suffragist Unit teaching about the battle women had to face for the right to vote.

March 3 – The Star-Spangled Banner is named the US National Anthem (1931). If your children doesn’t know the song then this is the perfect opportunity to teach them.

Check out these resources:

Stars and Stripe Topic from How America Works or for more information on the War of 1812, students can read The New Nation Unit.

March 7 – “Monopoly” Board Game Invented (1933)

Were hosting #31DaysofBoardGames this month. We kicked off the month with a Lesson Plan/ Unit Study on Playing Cards and will be sharing a Lesson Plan on Monopoly later in the month.

You can teach your students how to learn the concepts of money or business with Money Unit.

March 10 – Alexander Graham Bell makes the 1st Phone Call (1876) What would the world be like without phones? Is a question I will be having Charlie answer this month in our Creative Writing Class.

Or you could use “if you could call anyone in the world who would you call and why?” What would you ask them and why?

Bell made the very first phone call to his assistant, Thomas Watson you can learn more about his life with, The Telephone, which is part of a Unit Study/ Lesson Plan Inventions Unit.

March 14 – Albert Einstein’s Birthday For cooking class bake a cake to celebrate his Birthday then have your students create a Birthday Card for him in your Art Class.

Celebrate Albert Einstein’s birthday with a Leeson Plan or Unit Study  Physical Science Units then begin by exploring a Lesson Plan/ Unit Study on Atoms.

March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day Decorate your home in Shamrocks and the color green. Make cookies with your students and then look for the Leprechaun and his pot of Gold while eating a bowl of Lucky Charms.

40 million Americans descend from the country of Ireland, although 5 million people who actually live there. This is a opportunity to share the immigrant history. using a Immigration Unit

Then you can discuss why a lot of people come to this country and what customs they brought with them.

March 20 – First Day of Spring Take a Nature Walk and for your photography class take pictures of Flowers as there budding and getting ready to bloom.

If your planting a Garden this year get your Students to help you prepare the Garden. Have them draw what they would like to grow. Then have them write a story about the steps they need to take to prepare the Garden.

If you have friends in the Midwest or Northeast I’m sure Spring can’t come soon enough. A “feeling” of Spring is less predictable, the season officially begins the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator.

If your looking for Spring based Units. I would like to suggest the following Unit Studies/ Lesson Plans:  FlowersBeesBirdsPlants, or Butterflies  which can create fun reading.

March 23 – National Puppy Day– Take a picture of your dog and share it with us. Then have your dog pose for a picture and create a picture of your pet using your favorite Art medium.

Then check out this Lesson Plan/ Unit Study on Dogs Unit.

For cooking class have your students research and cook Treats for your pets. Then host a Party for them to celebrate National Puppy Day. Make sure you take them on a walk and play ball with them.
