I sat down this afternoon to read Nana and Me Special Peoms Just for Us which Charlie can use in his Homeschool Language Arts Class when he begins his studies on Poetry. Before I hare my thoughts with you I would like to let you know that when you purchase a copy of this book they will donate a book to a child in need.

As your preparing to do your Christmas Shopping please add this book to your Shopping List and also ask everyone you know to purchase a book and to let everyone they know about how purchasing the book allows the company to donate a book to a child in need. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to give at least 100 books out this Christmas? But I know we can do much more than that with your help.

If you know a child starting school this year then you will want to share “GoGo Walks Me To School” which I wish I had knew about when Charlie started school. There is a poem called “Nan’s Old Rocking Chair” and I have the one I had when Charlie was a baby that my mother in law used for a bit along with my step daughter Leslie and her son Elijah.

Throughout the word Charlie and I found words we didn’t know that we looked up enhancing Charlie’s school lessons this week which turned Nana ad Me Special Poems Just For Us into a teaching tool and if your children are like mine its nice to be able to teach them new things and even I learned stuff I didn’t know.

In the back of the book is a list of words describing Nana. Charlie can use in his Spelling Class this week. Having the list gave us the opportunity to pick out new names for my mom and grandmother. I wish they were still with us to hear what we choose. The words also tell us which Country the words came from that Charlie can study in his Homeschool Home Economics class.

From the pen of world-reknowned poet, author, and Nana, Jane Yolen, come 19 poems about grandmothers from around the world.

This sweet collection features Nanas who dream and those that sing crying babies to sleep; Nanas who hold hands crossing the street and some that learn Hopscotch; Nanas who color with you and some that go to Zoos; and other Nanas spending precious time with their precious little ones.

From Spanish to Japanese, Swahilli to Yiddish, Scottish to Vietnamese, one thing is clear – No matter what language you say it in…”Grandma” means “Love.”

Excerpt

When Nana Jane Sleeps

Sometimes she snores.

Sometimes she whistles.

Sometimes she is so quiet,

I tiptoe into her room

to make sure she is all right.

She always is.
