Phoenix Candle Maker finds Purpose in Repurposing

I’m would like to introduce you to Phoenix-based Vim + Vigor Candle Co. They do interesting things with “repurposing” by combining 100% natural soy wax and fragrance combinations with unique, pure copper and natural wood vessels. All candles are handcrafted and poured in the U.S.A.

Repurpose the 100% pure copper container after the wax has burned by simply freezing the container overnight. Once frozen, customers can easily (and gently) chip away any wax remnants and then rinse with a little dish soap and hot water. They make a great bathroom or desk accessories, tea light holders, vases, or even Moscow Mule mugs.

Finding Purpose

Kristin Boyd, candle maker and the proud owner of Vim + Vigor Candle Co., started making candles in 2015 as a weekend project to salvage a cabinet full of half-burned candles. That fun weekend project turned into a goal to figure out how to make a better-quality candle that burned evenly from the start.

A year of research and over 100 test trials later, Boyd had successfully created a candle that burned cleanly and evenly down to the last drop of wax, filling the whole house with its aroma. “My passion for repurposing old materials is what sparked this labor of love, and it’s the reason I chose to use pure copper and natural wood containers as my candle vessel,” said Boyd. “I hope that it might inspire others to reduce waste and repurpose the vessel after the candle burns.”

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
