Skygazing: Explore the Sky in the Day and Night Published by Anna Claybourne

I would like to share a children’s book Skygazing: Explore the Sky in the Day and Night Published by Anna Claybourne and Illustrated by Kerry Hyndman I received in exchange for this review.

Charlie has always been fascinated with the Sky and the Galaxy. We’ve spent many a night looking up at the Sky not only for school but just because Charlie loves looking at the Stars. Some of our best talks have been at night sitting outside under the Moon discussing the shape.

When Skygazing: Explore the Sky in the Day and Night arrived I knew this hardback book would be the perfect addition to our Homeschool Library. We can use the book when were studying the Solar System. Before you ask if this is the only thing we would use the book for it isn’t.

I can see us reading the story on the nights were Stargazing or as a bedtime story. David even let me know he wouldn’t mind reading the book and once he finished share it with his grandson Elijah and his daughter Leslie. David said he couldn’t wait to share the book with his grandmother and his Cousins Lily and Jason.

If we go camping this year under the Stars were going to bring the book with us. Although, Charlie said who needs to camp outside we can camp inside and read the book and create stories about the night Sky. While looking through the telescope I had gotten Charlie.

Skygazing: Explore the Sky in the Day and Night can be used in our Art Class, Vocabulary Class and even Math Class. I like how Skygazing: Explore in the Day and Night is broken up into chapters. Which allows Charlie and to read one or two chapters a night. Charlie will not become overwhelmed with reading and remembering what he is learning.

Charlie was amazed that there is two different stories inside the book. Charlie was so excited to find out that to get to the second part you flip the book over. Then you begin reading to your heats content. Each Section of the book had one Chapter Charlie liked the most and inside Skygazing Explore the Sky in the Night and Day Charlie liked the section on Planes and Helicopters.

Then in Skygazing Explore the Sky in the Day and Night Charlie’s favorite chapter was The Planets while I liked the chapter on Amazing Auroras. One day I would like to take Charlie and David to see the Aurora’s in person. David said his favorite part was Bats Take Flight. Which has led David into wanting to take Charlie on a Field Trip to see Bats in person. Would you like to come with us?

What do you see when you look up at the sky? It may seem like a big, empty space, but it’s busier than you think. From clouds and stars, to birds, planes and everything in between – there’s a whole sky to explore.

Skygazing is a double-sided book full of incredible cross-curricular information, fun activities, and beautiful illustrated scenes to enjoy. Discover why the Sky is blue, early experiments in flight, and how Helicopters stay aloft, before flipping the book to read all about the Night Sky. Find out how to read the Stars, spot the night’s flying creatures and see the colors of the Aurora Borealis.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
