Summer Gift Guide: Creative Screen-Free Fun That Inspires Imagination

Summer Gift Guide: Creative Screen-Free Fun That Inspires Imagination 12pm

The Mommies Reviews

Coming soon: We’ll be sharing special artwork from DreamPress Studio along with creative ideas for families, teachers, homeschoolers, bloggers, and anyone who loves creating.

I remember when Charlie was little Summer was a wonderful time for my family, and friends to slow down, spend time together, and make memories. But if your house is anything like mine, you may also hear those familiar words:

“I’m bored.” Nine hundred and ninety nine times a day. Which leads to kids fighting and tempers being tested.

After the excitement of summer break wears off, many parents start searching for ideas that keep children engaged without adding even more screen time to their day. While tablets, video games, and electronics can certainly have their place, there is something special about activities that encourage children to use their imagination, create something with their own hands, and look back later and say, “I made that.”

That is why I’m excited to share a creative discovery with you for this year’s Summer Gift Guide. Discovering DreamPress Studio which I recently, discovered through Rene Brown. This amazing company is created by artist Barb Ireland, and I immediately started seeing possibilities everywhere.

What began as beautiful artwork quickly became something much bigger in my mind. I started thinking about all the ways families, teachers, homeschoolers, bloggers, and creative people could use these designs in everyday life. Because Digital artwork isn’t just something you look at on a screen. It can become the beginning of a project, a story, a keepsake, or a memory.

A Gift That Encourages Creativity

One of my favorite things about creative gifts is that they don’t end when the wrapping paper comes off.

A child can take inspiration from artwork and create:

  • A story based on an image they can write in a journal and give as a gift or
  • A journal cover on a plain notebook
  • A handmade card to give to someone you love
  • A bookmark for all the books we read
  • A scrapbook page which I want to use when I make Suzzie’s scrapbook
  • A piece of room décor which is what I will use my artwork for
  • A memory book featuring our loved ones favorite items
  • A personalized gift for someone special including business owners

The possibilities are endless because creativity looks different for every person.

One child may see a butterfly and write a story about a magical garden. Another may see a fantasy scene and create an entire adventure. Someone else may simply love the colors and want to use them to decorate their own special space. The sky’s the limit with this amazing one of a kind company.

Perfect for Family Creativity

One of the reasons I love this idea for summer is because it gives families a chance to create together. Parents and children can sit down and work on projects side by side. Grandparents can create keepsakes with grandchildren. Friends can have a creative afternoon together.

Sometimes the best memories aren’t made during expensive outings—they are made around a table with a project, a few supplies, and time spent together. With everyone laughing and sharing these favorite snacks and beverages. Let’s purchase some of the pages and see what we can create.

A Screen-Free Activity With Endless Possibilities

Finding ways to step away from electronics doesn’t mean taking away fun. It means creating opportunities for imagination.

Creative projects can help children:

  • Practice storytelling which was one of Charlie’s favorite classes when we were homeschooling
  • Build confidence which both Charlie and I need to work on
  • Explore their interests and also find new things they enjoy
  • Develop patience which both Charlie and I need to work on
  • Express themselves and the things they like
  • Create something they are proud of and want to share with others

For families looking for summer activities, digital artwork can become the starting point for hours of creativity.
