I knew one day I would wake up on Mother’s Day and Charlie might not be here, but I weren’t expecting it this year yet that is what is going to happen in the morning. I wanted to share tonight how The Mother’s Day Slow Down Starts Tonight” for my family.
Mother’s Day doesn’t really begin in the morning for a lot of moms including me it begins tonight. The night before Mother’s Day. Not with gifts or big plans or pressure to make everything perfect. It begins in the quiet moments when a family finally slows down long enough to notice each other again.
In townhomes, apartments, and small spaces, life often moves quickly inside the same four walls. There are always things to finish, things to clean, things to prepare for tomorrow. But tonight is different because tonight is a pause. A time to slow down and breath before the chaos of Mother’s Day takes over.
The night before is the moment where a family steps just outside the door, even if only for a few minutes, and realizes that the world is still moving gently around them. The air feels different when you stop rushing through it. The light feels softer when you actually look at it.
There is no need to create a perfect experience. The point is simply to notice what has been there all along. A breeze. A sound in the distance. A shadow moving across the ground. A small reminder that life is happening right now, not just in the plans for tomorrow.
Tonight is not about doing more. It is about doing less, together, and letting that be enough. Before tomorrow begins and I forget to say it I wanted to remind you and your friends and family to have a Happy Mother’s Day.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
