Twinkle,Twinkle, Hanukkah Words by Talia Benany Art by Aura Lewis

Children's Book Reviews

I wanted to share a new children’s book with you called Twinkle, Twinkle, Hanukkah By Talia Benamy Art by Aura Lewis I received a copy of the book in exchange for this review.

Hanukkah isn’t something my family knows a lot about. I wish when Charlie was little especially when we were #Homeschooling Charlie that we had taken the time to study Hanukkah so we would know more about Hanukkah and what all happens during this Holiday.

Which is why I was excited to read Twinkle, Twinkle, Hanukkah and we learned more about menorah which I would like to take Charlie to see in the stores. We learned words we hadn’t heard of like shamash. We learn about the lights and how they spread light far and wide.

Then we also learned about dreidels and were asked to play a game and win some gelt. Another word I have to learn. We learn there is a lot of sharing and presents big and small. We should try a Latke. Shouldn’t we? Make sure you have Applesauce or Sour Cream for the Latke.

have you heard of Sufganiyot? Which are Jelly Doughnuts made in Oil David would have enjoyed a lot. As for Charlie and I not so much. Then it’s time to sing songs about history and our past and victories. As you can see Twinkle, Twinkle, Hanukkah could also be used in History Classes.

Then we learn about Maccabees who fought the Greeks and Jews who found the Oil. How happy they were to see friends and family near and far. Then we learn about Chag Sameach. I love how the Author reminded up that Hanukkah is a celebration of Jewish survival.
