UnboxBoardom Station Master

This is a review for UnboxBoardom who allowed me to try out their subscription plan through US Family Guide in exchange for this review. I was sent Station Master.

I wanted to find a new and unique Gift for Charlie to make Homeschooling more enticing. As soon as I found out about UnboxBoardom, I knew this would be the perfect Gift for Charlie. As well as for my nieces and nephews for Easter and the upcoming Holidays. I like that we are able to choose which game we would like to have or they will pick for us.

Even though I had planned on giving Charlie Calliope Station Master Game for Christmas I found myself wondering what was in the game as I examined the box. Which has a beautiful picture on the front of the box. The train reminded me of Suzzane and my nephew riding the train to see my parents in Oklahoma City.

I opened the box this morning and examined all the playing pieces. I loved how the tokens are different colors and different shapes including a boot. I began to read the instructions and Charlie came downstairs to get a drink. He saw the game pieces on the coffee table and sat down with me to look over the game.

Before I knew what was happening I was reading the instructions and Charlie was helping me set the game up. There are several types of cards you use in the game which allowed Charlie to get his Homeschool Reading down. Charlie and I had fun checking out all the different places on the cards. The game is a lot of fun and you never know who will win. Although I do think it would be fun with more than 2 players.

It’s nice to know this game is for ages 8+ but my niece Lily is 7 and I believe she could have played with us with a little bit of adult supervision. You can have up to 6 players at one time which would allow me to invite my sister and Lily and Jason to play with Charlie, David and I. I thought the game might get boring or take to long to play but it didn’t and before we finished the first game Charlie and I were ready to play again.

Check out not only this month’s games here but past month’s as well.

UB Insider Comments: Station Master is a train-themed card game for 2-6 players. In the game, players are working at the station, attaching railcars to locomotives and boarding passengers on trains, trying to score the most efficiency points to win! On your turn you have two options: 1) Place passengers on train cars worth a certain value which you keep hidden from other players or 2) Add train cards to locomotives to adjust the points the trains will score. Once there are a certain number of passengers on the train, it will leave the station and score points. The cards you attach can either add or subtract points to the score. You have to carefully manage what cards you play and use some deception to fool your opponents! Are you ready to become the Station Master!? All aboard!

So here’s how it works… When you sign up for UnboxBoardom, you are signing up for brand-new board games delivered right to your door!  All games that are featured are loved by members of the UnboxBoardom team — from family board games to strategy games to party games!  All board games you will receive have been given our stamp of approval.

The last thing we’d want from our members is to select a board game, and when it arrives you Unbox….boredom (see what we did there?)  After you decide on which membership plan you want, you will receive an email from us at the beginning of each membership month to determine what game will be sent to you (see ‘Selecting Games’).

Now, there are a two different UnboxBoardom membership plans you can choose between:

1)  Pay-as-you-go ($33.99/game) – You will have the flexibility to choose a new board game every month of your subscription plan and cancel anytime you’d like, and you will no longer be charged.

2)  Pre-Pay Subscription ($29.99-$31.99/game) – You will pre-pay a discounted rate for your board games. The more games you pre-pay, the better the discount! ***BEST VALUE OPTION***

Average value of board games will be around $35.  With any of the above membership options, you can select the “Trust the Experts” option.  With this option, all you need to do is choose your membership, and then we will select the board game we think you will like best every time.  No need to read emails and make decisions, just be surprised whenever a new game shows up to your door (great for gift-givers!)

That’s all there is to it, so stop reading, select a plan, and start playing. It’s time to unplug and play!
