Kiss and Make Up Day

Kiss and Make Up Day is a great way to end a spat. Everyone has an argument, once in a while. Family, friends, doesn’t matter no one escapes without an occasional fight. Today is a day to end the fight, kiss, and make up. What fun this holiday can be!

According to Jacqueline V. Milgate, who created this holiday: “Life is too short to hold a grudge. If someone is important to you, kiss and make up!”

Today is a holiday to end the fight, be it a short spat, or a long standing feud. Get over the issues, and resolve your differences. Then, kiss and make up. After all, making up can be sweet. For lovers, it is the best part of the fight. Some might suggest that the kissing and making up part makes fighting worthwhile.

Kiss and Make Up Day might be a good day to send flowers or candy.

You know that little tingly feeling you get when you love someone? That’s common sense leaving your body.

History and Origin of Kiss and Make Up Day :

This holiday was created in by Jacqueline V. Milgate from Hilton, NY. the Author created this holiday as an opportunity and encouragement for people to make amends. She chose this date, as it is her birthday.

There are a couple of incorrect references on the internet to this as a “National” holiday but the creator of this holiday told us that she does not call this a National day.

National Banana Split Day

Today is a holiday that you can go ape over which is National Banana Split Day!!

On August 25th, 1904, the Banana Split was first created in the small town of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. David Strickler, a 23 year old Pharmacist apprentice was working in the Soda Fountain section of the Tassel Pharmacy at 805 Ligonier Street. David Strickler liked to experiment with different combinations of Ice Cream flavors and toppings. David Strickler created the Banana Split on this day, and sold the Banana Split for 10 cents, which was a lot of money at the time. As a matter of fact, the Banana Split was twice the price of other Sundaes. The Banana Split caught on with students from local Saint Vincent College, and from there, the Banana Splits popularity spread. Walgreens gets recognition for spreading the Banana Split across the Nation when they added the Banana Split to their Soda Fountain menu.

Today, Banana Splits are a standard item on the menu of just about anywhere Ice Cream is sold around the Country. The Banana Split became so popular, that there was a television show for kids called “The Banana Split Adventure Hour” which aired form 1968 – 1970.

Banana Splits have 850 – 1500 delicious calories.

You will absolutely love to know that the best way to celebrate this Carb filled holiday, is to enjoy a Banana Split.

History and Origin of National Banana Split Day :

We know a lot about the details around the creation of Banana Splits, and their popular spread across the dessert world. However, our research did not identify the creator, or the origin of this holiday. However, we think this is one of the most enjoyable holidays of the year!

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” holiday and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
