Unique Holidays: October 202: American Cheese Month

Welcome to our series featuring Unique Holidays: October 202: American Cheese Month. I don’t know about you but I love Cheese. I hate being home and not having several different types of Cheese on hand for different meals we will be having. Are you the same why?

American Cheese Month

American Cheese is a slice of American life. American Cheese isn’t your fancy Cheesemonger’s Cheese. When you need Cheese to melt to that perfectly gooey texture, you’ll ask all the fancy Cheese to step aside. Only American Cheese will do. American Cheese won’t overpower any dish with its complex taste but American Cheese can enhance the natural flavors.

How does American Cheese do that, you ask? American Cheese has a way of losing itself in the dish while adding texture. Let’s celebrate our humble hero during American Cheese Month. Be proud of your Cheese!

American Cheese Month Activities

  1. Take a picture of how you and your family enjoy American Cheese and share your pictures on Social Media.
  2. Put a new low-cost twist on an old favorite and serve American Cheese during a Wine and Cheese Party.
  3. Make your own Cheese which isn’t all that difficult. All you need is the right recipe and a little bit of patience.

5 American Cheese Facts

  2. Many Cheese critics wanted American Cheese to be called Embalmed Cheese because Sodium Phosphate, an emulsifying agent, used in it was also used to preserve corpses. Today sodium phosphate is a commonly used emulsifying agent.

  4. According to federal laws, American Cheese can never be sold as ‘Cheese’ but as ‘processed Cheese’ because it isn’t made in the traditional way.
