Sewing Machine Day

I remember as a child my grandmother sitting for hours in front of the Sewing Machine Sewing and she taught me how as well. But I preferred Sewing by hand would make quilts and Barbie Clothes for Suzzane. Then in Middle School and High School I took Home Economics and we had to sew using a Sewing Machine.

I’m BLESSED to have my Grandmother’s Sewing Machine but it isn’t useable but Homeschooling Charlie I’ve been thinking of purchasing a Sewing Machine for Charlie to use in Homeschool so when he is grown he would know how to mend his own clothes. Because real men do Sew just ask my dad who learned to Sew and Iron in the Air Force.

Sewing Machine Day celebrates a very important invention —– the sewing machine. Did you know the first sewing machines were made in France in the 1830s but it wasn’t until 1846, that they were patented in the U.S. What a great invention. Prior to it’s creation, clothes items were sewn together by hand…stitch by stitch.

People who know how to use a sewing machine are dwindling in number. Our mothers and grandmothers had a sewing machine in the house and they used the Sewing Machine. But, look around your house. Do you have a sewing machine? Chance are, the answers is no.

If you have a sewing machine, enjoy creating something new today and if you do not then you might consider picking up sewing as a hobby.

The History and Origin of Sewing Machine Day:

There remains some mystery around the date for this day. Almost all documentation on the internet suggests that June 13th is the date for Sewing Machine Day. But, we found no information why this date was selected. We did find an occasional reference to September 10th as the day for this holiday. And, this is the date that the sewing machine was patented. We also found a single reference to “New Sewing Machine Day” on March 1st.

If you sew, you have two days to celebrate Sewing Machine Day…..lucky you!

Swap Ideas Day

I miss those mornings when I would jump on the phone with a friend and we would brainstorm things for the Blog or discuss Homeschooling Classes for Charlie. But this week I’ve been getting back into that pattern and I feel much more calm since taking time for myself and my work and making it a PRIOTORY.

Did you know Swap Ideas Day encourages us to share and trade ideas and concepts. According to the creator of this Holiday, one goal for today, is to encourage people to think about ways their ideas can be used to benefit humanity. As you fully participate in this Holiday, we think you will get plenty of good ideas to put to use in your everyday life. Some will be so good, that you will want to pass them along, (or swap them) to others.

Sharing is good. Ideas are a good thing, too. Putting the two together should produce a real winner of a day, eh!? I’ve got an idea on how to celebrate this Holiday? Lets swap a few ideas.

History and Origin of Swap Ideas Day:

This Holiday was created by Robert L. Birch of Pun Corp and the Holiday burst onto the Holiday Calendar around 2015.

The Holiday is incorrectly identified as a “National” day. Robert Birch established it as “Swap Ideas Day”.

Thank you,
