I have a question for you. Did you know November is National Adoption Month? I didn’t until I received the press release for Love Like Chocolate. Which has let me kick off our Valentines Day Gift Guide 24: Love Like Chocolate is written by Tracy Banghart and art by Alina Chau. I received a copy of the book in exchange for a review and to kick off our Valentines Day Gift Guide 24. Check out the press release here. Love Like Chocolate can be purchased on Amazon.

I love how this book touches on adoption and shows that it is scary for the child being adopted but with love and patience they will become comfortable and become a part of your family. Charlie and I loved hearing about both children’s favorite recipes and we can’t wait to look some of them up to prepare in his Homeschool Cooking Class.

Just like the Chocolate Sauce recipe in the back of the book only were going to serve it with Vanilla Ice Cream not Peppermint Ice Cream. Charlie and I loved how the little boy is so kind and protective of his sister and teaches her everything he knows and how he makes a point to include things from her past.

Charlie and I will lookup Thailand and the foods they eat which is where the Author’s youngest child is from. If you know someone adopting a child then you will want to purchase a copy of this book for them. Which should be in every school and counselors office.

For more on adoption check out adopteereading.com and when you sit down to read this children’s book make sure you have a snack or two on hand because you will end up hungry from looking at all of the beautiful illustrations of food their preparing.

About the book:

A deliciously sweet story of family, traditions, and Chocolate! Perfect for Valentine’s Day, or anytime you want to tell someone “I love you.”

As a family welcomes an adopted little girl to their home, her brother takes it upon himself to teach his new sister their traditions. For good days and bad, for birthdays, holidays, and everything in between, their family always celebrates with Chocolate.

They make super chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Spring, very-berry Chocolate-Cherry Mousse in the Summer, Chocolate Banana Pancakes in the Fall, and warm Chocolate Sauce in the Winter. But the boy soon realizes that his sister might have favorite treats of her own, and that if they work together, they can create new traditions and memories together.

Inspired by the author’s adoption of her daughter—and by her grandmother’s Chocolate Sauce recipe (included in the back of the book)—Love Like Chocolate is a mouthwatering celebration of family.
