Virtual Field Trips

It’s Friday, September 13, 2019, and time for new Homeschool Resources to be shared. I will be sharing resources for Virtual Field Trips with everyone. If you have used these resources let me know what you liked about them and why.

Recommended Website: UCLA Medical Center

UCLA Health

Age Range: 5-18 (Grades K-12, with parental supervision) Hospitals can be scary places especially for young children. These virtual tours of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica may help prepare children for what to expect in the event that they someday need to visit a hospital.

When arriving at the link above, select which tour you would like to view, and a window will open. When viewing the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center tour, touch and drag to move around the 360° image or allow the program to take you around.

You may turn the auto rotate feature on or off by selecting the gear icon in the upper left of the screen. You may navigate through the slides by selecting the icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Click the icon in the upper right for information about the slide you are viewing. Locations include:

  • Front Exterior
  • Main Lobby
  • Mattel Wall
  • Garden of Peace
  • Nursing Station
  • ICU
  • Maternity
  • Labor & Delivery
  • An Operating Room
  • Maddie’s Room
  • Pediatrics Room
  • Child Life Playroom
  • Child Life Teen room

The UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica tour is accompanied by an audio guide which also can be turned on or off by selecting the gear icon in the upper left. You may also touch and drag to move around the 360° image.

In the images there are blue U’s that are linked to videos, image galleries, and other information text and pages. Available tour locations include:

  • Main Entrance
  • Harman Garden Plaza
  • Lobby
  • Emergency Room
  • Adult Patient Room
  • Pediatrics Patient Room
  • Pediatrics Playroom
  • Orthopedic Institute
  • The Birthplace – LDR (Labor, Delivery & Recovery)
  • The Birthplace – Postpartum Room

These easy-to-navigate tours give visitors a general idea of what a hospital might look like and perhaps make the thought of visiting one a little less frightening for youngsters.
