🌸 Easter Cleaning Countdown — One Small Task a Hour

Easter Gift Guide Home Decor

Life has gotten away from me I didn’t even think about Easter being this weekend until I saw a post on Facebook reminding us of its in 2 days. I wanted to share a 🌸 Easter Cleaning Countdown — that can be broken down into one small task at hour until everything is ready for Easter. If you pull in your family the task can be done in less time.

Easter Cleaning Countdown: One Small Task and Hour for a Fresh, Happy Home

Every year, the week before Easter sneaks up on me. One minute I’m stuffing plastic eggs into a grocery cart, and the next I’m looking around the house thinking, “How does this place get messy so fast?”
If you’ve ever felt that same pre‑holiday panic, you’re in good company.

A few years ago, instead of doing a giant, exhausting spring‑cleaning marathon, I tried something different: one small task a day but this year has gotten away from me.

Not to overwhelm my family I’ve decided each of us will do one task a hour until the list is done. No, we will not all be home at the same time with David working but I’ve created list for everyone. That includes no all‑day scrubbing. Just tiny wins that added up to a home that felt calm, fresh, and ready for Easter Sunday.

This is the exact countdown I use now — mom‑friendly, dad‑approved, and totally doable even during a busy week.

🧼 The Easter Cleaning Countdown (With Real‑Life Tips)

Hour 1 — While the Coffee is making clear the Kitchen Counters have whoever is up do one side of the kitchen and you do the other side. Easy peasy clean counters. A clean counter instantly makes the whole house feel calmer.

Tip: Use a “drop‑zone basket” for random items that don’t belong. I’ve done this with Charlie and Suzzane since they were little. I sit the basket on the bottom steps and the top steps and no, matter if you’re going up or coming down put what is in the basket up even if it isn’t yours or you didn’t use it.

Dad Tip: Wipe under appliances — crumbs hide there.
Here are some must-have items we keep in our cleaning cupboard: Countertop organizer, lazy Susan, cute woven basket.

Hour 2 — Wipe Sinks + Mirrors- Bathrooms look 10× cleaner when the mirrors shine.
Tip: Keep a microfiber cloth under each sink for quick wipe‑downs.
Dad Tip: Use a squeegee on mirrors to avoid streaks.
In our cleaning cabinet we keep Streak‑free glass spray, reusable microfiber cloths.

Hour 3 — Sweep or Vacuum Floors0 Focus on high‑traffic areas only — kitchen, entry, living room.
Tip: Set a 5‑minute timer and do a “speed sweep.”
Dad Tip: Vacuum under the couch cushions (you’ll find snacks from 2019).
These are also in our cleaning cupboard: Cordless vacuum, robot vacuum, hardwood floor broom.

Hour 4 — Wash Towels- This is one of David’s task because we have to go to the Laundry Mat and he has the card we need to use but I walk with David to get my steps in for the day and it fits into the category of did I date myself/ did I date my husband?
Fresh towels = instant spa vibes.
Tip: Add white vinegar to remove odors and soften naturally.
Dad Tip: Fold towels the same direction — it looks hotel‑level neat.
On our laundry shelf you will find: Wool dryer balls, gentle detergent

Hour 5 — Declutter the Porch or Entry
This is the first thing guests see.
Tip: Use the “three‑item rule” — remove three things that don’t belong.
Dad Tip: Shake out the doormat and sweep the entry.
On our porches we have a outdoor mat, shoe tray, small storage bench.

Hour 6 — Wipe the Dining Table– This is where everyone gathers for Easter and once the table is clean put the Easter decorations and tablecloth on the table so it’s ready to go.
Tip: Wipe with the grain to avoid streaks.
Dad Tip: Tighten any wobbly chair legs.
We use the following products on my table Wood‑safe cleaner, reusable cloths, table runner.

Hour 7 — Take Out Trash- we do this daily because live in a Townhome and its one of the boys’ chores but not only that we have a Concierge who picks up trash in our Townhome if we want them to.
Nothing ruins Easter brunch like a smelly bin.
Tip: Line the bottom of the can with extra bags for quick changes.
Dad Tip: Take out recycling too — it fills up fast this week.
In our home we use Compostable bags, odor‑blocking trash bags.

Hour 8 — If you decorate for Easter and haven’t set out Easter DĂŠcor. I do this in my home the day after Saint Patrick’s Day and keep it up until Easter then take it down Easter night when cleaning up from dinner.
Keep it simple — one centerpiece, one wreath, one cozy touch.
Tip: Use what you already have and add one new seasonal piece.
Dad Tip: Help hang the wreath or lights.
In our home we us Faux florals, Easter garland, pastel table dĂŠcor.

Now it’s time to enjoy Easter
You did the work — now enjoy the day.
Tip: Light a candle, put on soft music, and relax.
Dad Tip: Take a family photo before the kids get chocolate on their shirts.
