It seems like forever that I’ve been waiting to bring you and your family🌮 TACO CHAOS NIGHT (TAC TUESDAY #1). If I had thought about it earlier when I took Hamburger Meat out, I would have told David and Gerald, we were having Taco’s for #TacoTuesday but I told they we would make Hamburger patties with Brown Gravy they both like. I wish I could sneak away to taco Casa for a Taco or two or three.
Since there is no perfect plan tonight. There is just life. And somehow, it still becomes dinner. Even though it isn’t Taco night it my home that doesn’t mean it can’t be Taco Chaos Night in your home and this is why its — the first official Taco Tuesday.
You will find David in the kitchen cooking like he always does when he gets home from work. Nothing is measured perfectly. Nothing looks the same. Tonight it’s just the three of us at home—David, Gerald, and me—each wishing we had made Tacos for dinner this evening.
If we had David would have wanted soft Tacos, Gerald would have built a Taco bowl, and if you know me you know I go for crunchy tacos every time. What about you. Crunchy Tacos or Soft Tacos and why? Hamburger Meat, ie Ground Beef, Chicken or Steak or something else?
I even had plans to turn the pinto beans from earlier in the week into refried beans like they were always meant to be there. But this time I can honestly say there was no, Pinto Beans left David and Gerald ate them all which was good because nothing was wasted.
As you can see, we live in a quiet lived-in way. Plates being built, food being passed, simple conversation in between bites even if it wasn’t Taco’s, it was still Taco Tuesday. Not perfect. Just real. When everything becomes a taco.
Even though we didn’t do Taco’s tonight I wanted to share a fun beverage you can make for your friends and family.
🍹 CHAOS NIGHT DRINK (FAST FAMILY VERSION)
When the kitchen is busy and you still want something fun to drink:
Taco Night Lime Fizz
- 1 glass ice
- 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda (Sprite, 7UP, or store brand)
- Juice of 1/2 lime (or bottled lime juice splash)
- 1–2 tsp sugar or honey (optional, depending on taste)
- Pinch of salt (this is the “restaurant trick”)
- Optional: splash of orange juice for a softer flavor
Stir well, taste, and adjust lime or sweetness. Serve cold.
It’s bright, fizzy, and cuts right through taco night heat.
Enjoy,
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
