Where Wisdom Meets Wonder: Forty Stories of Grandma Love

Did you know Grandparents Appreciation Month is in September! Although I believe we should celebrate grandparents year round. How about you? To make sure were celebrating not only the grandparents in our lives but all the grandparents around us I would like to share a new book I received for a review. The book is called Where Wisdom Meets Wonder: Forty Stories of Grandma Love by Judith: Frizlen.

More of more of my friends are raising there grandchildren part time and sometimes full time. Like my friend Roma who is in her 90’s and Karen who is in her 50’s with 2 middle schoolers. I see how they struggle and I would like to give them a copy of Where Wisdom Meets Wonder to show them my family is proud of them. We know they can do anything they set there minds to.

I love knowing the Author blesses us in three ways by sharing, guiding and modeling us. Through the book we get to meet the Authors husband and grandsons. As a mom and one day hopefully a grandmother it would have taken me three generations to get here just like my mom and her mom. Which is nothing short of a miracle in some cases.

I wish I had the opportunity to have visited Manhattan and have meet Angel because as I was reading the book I felt like I was sitting with a friend chatting one on one about her life and the experiences she had faced. Several times I felt myself nodding saying wow I wish I had been there. Or oh man I could see that happening or thank the LORD that wasn’t me.

If you are a women, or know a women who is becoming a grandmother then you should pick up a copy  Where Wisdom Meets Wonder for them because this book should be read in every book club including Oprah’s book club. With my mom and grandmother being in Heaven my mother in law one has becomes one of my best friends and my family plans on giving her a copy of the book to read with Charlie.

About the book:

How often we hear the term “old” used to reference a state of diminishment! Where Wisdom Meets Wonder is a memoir that aims to turn that idea on its head, celebrating the wisdom years through the happy ways in which aging allows us to revisit the wonders of childhood. The child is alive and well inside all of us.

While Where Wisdom Meets Wonder speaks to readers who have moved into the Third Act, it also calls out to parents of young children. These stories will give parents a reassuring glimpse of what’s to come.

Where Wisdom Meets Wonder is a confident statement about the turf that only a person in the wisdom years can command. It vindicates the dignity which perhaps, in our obsession with what dazzles the eye, has been lost in our meager evaluation of aging.

With mirth and a reaffirmed sense of personal worth, Judith Frizlen seeks to change older people’s perspectives. She hopes that these pages will inspire you to take on a beautiful new role as you step into the Third Act of life.

Press Release:

In our society, we’re surrounded by a youth-obsessed culture. Media, advertising, and societal norms emphasize looking young; impacting beauty ideals, self-worth, and even technology. This raises questions about the significance of age and experience in a world focused on perpetual youth.

Education Expert Judith Frizlen seeks to turn this idea around on its head, advocating that the experience, wisdom, and freedom that come with age, are unparalled.

According to Frizlen, aging is a wondrous force meant to be celebrated. She wants to inspire those who step into the ‘Third Act of Life’ to assume a beautiful role and embrace the wisdom that it comes with. Her words vindicate the dignity that, in our obsession with what dazzles the eye, has been lost in our meager evaluation of aging.

As the founder of The Rose Garden Early Childhood Center, an educator, mother, grandmother, and author of the book, “Where Wisdom Meets Wonder: 40 Stories of Grandma Love,” Frizlen champions connecting with elders and recognizing the kinship between their sense of curiosity and wonder and that of a child.
