Charlie and I sat down this morning to browse through Forest Magic for Kids: How to Find Fairies, Make a Secret Fort, and Cook Up an Elfin Picnic. If Charlie and I had still been #Homeschooling full time we would have use this book for our #Nature Studies and also for our PE Class as it would have gotten us up and moving and off electronics. Which is a Godsend isn’t it?

Charlie and I loved the bright yellow cover of the book with the green binding. I wish you could see all the Animals and Creatures on the front of the book including children and a family of Owls which I loved. Charlie liked the Mushroom House and David the Frog swinging through the air.

I love how the introduction tells us this is a chapter book and what we will find in each chapter which would have saved us time when teaching. I love how the Author has included things for us to do including “Top Ten Tools For A Forest Magic Search”.

I couldn’t wait to show my neighbors who have small children that the Author shows us what our children will learn in each chapter like observing, recording, climbing and storytelling and the words can be used in a Spelling Class.

With Easter right around the corner children will need a backpack and journal and instead of candy you could get them these as Gifts and the backpack would hold Easter Eggs they find. If Charlie was still taking part in his #Homeschool Art Class we could have made Leaf Crowns and Garlands to decorate our classroom with.

With Spring Break around the corner parents of small children should make sure they have this book on hand to keep child busy and from always saying I’m bored or there isn’t anything to do. Or can I plan a game on the Computer or Game System.

This book is going to keep not only children in Elementary School busy for hours on end but parents as well and even older children who love Nature. For those that like to #cook they can make Pine Tea which I can’t wait to do.

Ever since she can remember, naturalist and writer Susie Spikol has always looked for where Nature and story meet. Her love of nature didn’t start with Science. It grew out of a rich diet of Fairy tales. While out searching her Brooklyn neighborhood for Fairies and Gnomes, she remembers being charmed by Fireflies and enchanted by Snails.

Over the course of her 30-year career as a naturalist, she has taught thousands of children, parents, and teachers and given hundreds of public talks at Nature Centers, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Libraries, and conferences.

Her first book, published in 2022, “The Animal Adventurer’s Guide: How to Prowl for Owls, Make Snail Slime, and Catch a Frog Bare-Handed”, was recognized with a National Parenting Products Award.

Her new book “Forest Magic for Kids: How to Find for Fairies, Make a Secret Fort, and Cook Up an Elfin Picnic” is filled with activities inspired by imagination, Folklore, and Science. It’s an invitation to all readers to step outside and discover the beauty and magic of the world.

Susie’s “Book of Fairies” will be casting a spell over people of all ages later this year.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cares
