April 19 National Garlic Day #NationalGarlicDay

Food Holidays Recipes

I bet you Vampires don’t want to come out of there coffin’s today because April 19th is National Garlic Day #NationalGarlicDay. I have a question for you. Do you like #Garlic? If so how do you like to have Garlic and in what dish and why?

My family eats Garlic a lot of times and my favorite way as well as Charlie’s is Garlic Bread. David also likes Garlic Bread but likes to cook with Garlic as well. Remember to brush your teeth or use mouthwsh because Garlic can cause stinky breath and stop people from kissing.

I need to take stock out in Garlic when Mikalia Charlie’s girlfriend visits the next time. If you have teens in your home who are dating them you might want to plant Garlic in your Garden so you always have some on hand when there significant other’s visit.

One thing’s obvious: There’s a certain something in the air during National Garlic Day. Did you know that Egyptians worshipped Garlic as a God and even used Garlic as currency? That’s not all. Garlic supposedly gave strength to Greek athletes and warriors, warded off the evil eye, and protected maidens from evil nymphs. Not to mention, Vampires.

Just think about all the Garlicky foods people love including Garlic Bread and Garlic Fries for starters. If you feel as strongly about Garlic as most people do, celebrate with us on April 19. Did you know Jack in the Box used to sell Garlic Fries Charlie loved. Before you ask David and I didn’t care for the Garlic Fries.

National Garlic Day Activities

  1. If you have the means and the opportunity today grab a Garlic Clove and get cooking! Whether you’re Roasting Garlic for a delicious topping or using Garlic as a base for Veggies, you’ll be cooking with what we like to call “The Gods’ Ambrosia.” We don’t actually call it “Gods Ambrosia”, but Garlic is pretty darn delicious isn’t it?
  2. Take the Garlic breath challenge which is something we just made up, but it’s the most delicious challenge you’ll ever undertake. Incorporate Garlic into every meal of the day! No one will kiss you for the entire day, but it’s okay, because you’ll be eating well for every meal.
  3. Try incorporating Garlic in an unexpected way. Part of the fun of enjoying Garlic is learning its different flavor profiles! Some unusual dishes include Garlic Ice Cream, Garlic Rosemary Almonds, Garlic Lollipops, Garlic Truffles and the list goes on.

Why People Love National Garlic Day

You know how sometimes when you’re cooking and realize you forgot to add Seasoning, you dump Salt by the tablespoon onto your food for a quick infusion of flavor? We’re exaggerating, but you get the point.

Drop the Salt and pick up the Garlic! It’s a great way to add bold taste to your dishes without adding extra Sodium or Calories.

Galic is especially great for masking the bitter taste of many Vegetables not so bitter.

The question is Garlic the secret to getting kids to actually eat their Veggies? Probably not, but we can dream.

Garlic can be sweet through caramelization and roasting.

Garlic can be buttery and savory through sautéing.

Garlic can be pungent and sharp through slicing it raw.

No matter how you slice, sauté, or roast it, Garlic is a truly multifaceted Plant.

Several studies have shown that Garlic can reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol, both of which help improve circulation. Looks like I need to eat more Garlic. Want to join me?

Garlic is also an anti-inflammatory food, which helps ease heartburn and ulcers.
