Charlie and I loved the background color of the book which reminded us of the Sea. Etan is holding a sword Charlie said he would like to have. Emily has a pitchfork. Before you ask me why I have no, clue. Look at the top of the book and you will see Fish. I wonder if that’s why she has a Pitchfork.
We open the book up and there is a building that says Ballet in there Hometown.. Are you confused yet? I am. But the Tuttle family is watching a Musical on Broadway. I wish I was with them. Don’t you? Once the Musical is over they walk through Times Square. Wouldn’t that have been fun?
They catch a plane home and watch “Shark Pool'” and we “We learn about “entrepreneurs”. There friend Jared was on the show to talk about his Food Truck business. Emily reminded Ethan that “where there’s a risk there might be a reward”. Do you think that’s true?
None of the Sharks would invest in Jared’s business. Ethan decided he wanted to be a entrepreneur but his dad reminded him he needed creative way to improve people’s lives. The Twins thought they should open a Theater in there Town because there wasn’t one.
The Plane lands and Mrs. Tuttle’s mom was there to pick them up. The next day the Tuttle’s go to Nana’s Dance Studio to discuss the Theater. The Twins learn she had to close then the Town opened there Recreation Center.
Nana says she might invest in the Twins but first they had to answer 5 important questions like she did before she opened her Dance Studio. I will share the questions with you but not the answers because you need to read The Tuttle Twins and their Spectacular Show Business.
Question one: Who are you? Question two: What do you know: Queston three: Who do you know? Question four? What are your resources. Question five: What can you contribute?
Do you think the Tuttle Twins were able to answer the questions?
A #teachingmoment in the book is learning what a “network” is. Then we learn what a “business plan” is and you could have your children make a business plan to show them what one is and what all goes into a business plan which would be another #teachingmoment”.
Ethan reminds everyone he is good in math if I was to start a business I would need Charlie because he is good in math. Are you? The Twins make a list of everything they need while there dad looks up the prices of the items. What all do you think the Twins would need and why?
The Twins learn a hard lesson and have to become “problem solvers’. Do you think you could help them? They decide Ethan and there mom will right the play to cut down on expenses. Do you think they are able to write a Play people could come to see?
There dad says he will make calls to see if they can find used chairs which was another way to cut cost. Now we get to a #Math lesson as we learn about profits. Finally the Twins learn they hooked there Shark, But wouldn’t it be better to have more than one Shark? Or would that cause problems? This is a discussion question you could ask your children and they could interview local businesses to get there thoughts.
The Play is written. It’s called “The Deep Sea Adventures of Timothy Oscar”. Now the front of the book makes sense doesn’t it? They begin to look for Actors and work on the Theater. They find Mr. Miner but to find out what he does you will need to read The Tuttle Twins and their Spectacular Show Business.
Who is Mrs. Lopez and Ben? We learn how they all work to save money including going to a Thrift Store. Wouldn’t you want to go with them? Who is that Lady peeking in the window? To find out you will need to read The Tuttle Twins and their Spectacular Show Business.
Sleep is almost out the window as they spend time hanging up fliers and advertising online after working all day. Its opening day. The Lady who was peeking in the window is in the front seat taking notes. To find out who she is your going to have to read The Tuttle Twins and their Spectacular Show Business.
The Play is over they go for Ice Cream. Would you want to go with them because I would and Charlie and David to. Nana, tells them she knows who she is and shows them a flier for “The Tarp Troupe” which was opening on the other side of Town.
Now we learn about monopoly and no, not the game and competition. The Twins let there family know they need variety and low prices to succeed. The Twins learn they need sponsors and set off to find some. To find out if they find any you will need to read The Tuttle Twins and their Spectacular Show Business.
Remember to share the glossary in the back of the book with your children. As well as the information on the Author and Illustrator. Check out the discussion questions which will keep the learning going. Then check out the Activity/ Workbook.
