Welcome to the weekend. How are you? Were at the end of the first week of November? How is November treating you so far? Better or worse than October and why? For me it’s been hard but there is still a couple weeks left so I hope it gets better or were in a lot of trouble because we almost didn’t survive October.
Enough of that lets get to the Holidays that are celebrated on November 8th, 2025. Once you check out the #Holidays let me know which one you most would want to celebrate and why.
November 8th is Cook Something Bold Day #CookSomethingBoldDay and before you ask what is something bold we could cook don’t ask me because I’m trying to figure that out. Does a Spicy Dish count? Or a Barbeque dish? Or should it be food from a different culture and why?
Happy Cook Something Bold Day!
Happy Cook Something Bold Day happens on November 8th, inviting us to break out of our culinary comfort zones and spice things up—literally and figuratively. Cook Something Bold Day is the perfect excuse to:
- Try a fiery new recipe (think vindaloo, jerk chicken, or Sichuan hot pot)
- Load up on bold flavors like garlic, curry, kimchi, or blue cheese
- Experiment with a daring fusion dish or an unfamiliar cuisine
- Invite friends over for a bold dinner party and share the adventure
Whether you’re roasting garlic until it’s sweet and sticky or diving into a bubbling pot of spicy stew, today is all about flavor, flair, and fearlessness in the kitchen. Just remember when celebrating Cook Something Bold Day I can’t have hot or spicy foods so I will sit this #Holiday out why you, David and Charlie celebrate Cook Something Bold Day.
November 8 National Cappuccino Day #CappuccinoDay and this is one #Holiday I know both David and Charlie would want to celebrate. Loos like we will need to take a trip to our local Coffee Shop so David and Charlie can order themselves a Cappuccino.
Before you ask if I’m going to join them in the celebration no, I would like a plain cup of Coffee with Milk or Cream and Sugar. What about you? Tobad David isn’t home today would be a good day to finish using my Dunkin Donuts Gift Card I have or I could surprise Charlie and take him to Dutch Bros which they love.
Since I woke up again with my throat hurting a little big and finding out November 8th is National Harvey Wallbanger Day #HarveyWallbangerDay I wouldn’t have minded trying a Harvey Wallbanger with David but being on meds I can’t drink. David will have to celebrate National Harvey Wallbanger on his own unless you want to join David for a drink.
Here is a recipe for a Harvey Wallbanger so you can make drinks for your friends and family this evening.
Harvey Wallbanger is a retro cocktail made with vodka, orange juice, and Galliano, known for its sweet citrus flavor and herbal vanilla finish.
Here’s how to make a classic Harvey Wallbanger:
Ingredients (Serves 1)
- 50 ml vodka
- 100–150 ml orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
- 15 ml Galliano (a sweet herbal Italian liqueur)
- Ice cubes
- Orange slice and maraschino cherry (for garnish)
Instructions
- Fill a tall glass (like a Collins or highball) with ice.
- Pour in the vodka and orange juice. Stir gently to mix.
- Float the Galliano on top by slowly pouring it over the back of a spoon.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
Tips & Variations
- Use fresh orange juice for a brighter, more vibrant flavor.
- Galliano L’Autentico is the traditional choice, offering notes of vanilla, anise, and herbs.
- For a twist, add a splash of lemon juice to sharpen the citrus profile.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
