Home Fitness Ideas for Families: Cardio, Strength, and Active Summer Living

The Mommies Reviews

I don’t know about in your home but in our homes Summer has really brought some big changes not only in my life but Charli, Bradley and David’s life as well. As you know if your been following my families story Charlie and Bradley are both working full-time now.

That alone has shifted how our daily routines look, especially when it comes to fitness and staying active. Their schedules don’t line up like they used to, and some days it feels like everyone is coming and going in different directions.

That’s exactly why home fitness has become more important than ever. Instead of trying to rely on gym schedules or hoping everyone is off at the same time, which never happens so we’ve had to shift toward building a fitness routine that actually works with real life. Something flexible. Something that doesn’t fall apart just because the day gets busy.

Having weights in our home has been a Godsend and one of the best gifts I could have bought Charlie. Seeing this Bradley picked up a set of weights for his house as well which—has already been a huge help. It’s kept them consistent and allowed them to continue their weight loss and strength training journey without starting over every time their schedules change. But as they continue progressing, it’s clear they need more support to keep building strength the right way.

A weight bench is now one of those next-step items that would really complete their setup. It gives structure to their workouts, helps with progression, and makes it easier to train safely and effectively at home. When you’re trying to stay consistent while working full-time, having the right equipment ready in your own space changes everything.

That’s really the heart of what home fitness is about for families right now—removing barriers. Not everyone has time for a gym. Not everyone has transportation. And not everyone has a schedule that lines up with fitness classes or training sessions. So instead, more families are building movement right at home.

One of the best examples of this kind of “movement at home” is the Bcan BT4 Softland Pro Adult Bungee Trampoline with Handle. This isn’t just for kids—it’s a full-body movement tool that brings cardio, balance, and strength together in a way that feels fun instead of forced.

It turns exercise into something you actually want to do, especially during the summer when energy is high and being outside matters. It’s also a great way for families to move together instead of separately, which is something we’ve really started valuing more.

For steady, low-impact cardio that fits into any home, the E-51 Long Stride Magnetic Elliptical is another strong option. This type of elliptical supports longer stride movement, which makes it feel smoother and more natural on the body.

It’s especially helpful for adults who want consistent cardio without the stress that comes from high-impact workouts. It also works perfectly in a home setting where someone might jump on for 10 or 15 minutes between everything else going on during the day.

Then there’s FEdFitness US equipment, which ties this whole idea together for families, especially homeschool families who are building PE right inside their home. For many families, homeschool PE isn’t just about checking a box—it’s about teaching kids what movement looks like in real life. Equipment like this makes that possible without needing a gym membership or extra travel time.

This is exactly why these types of fitness tools are becoming part of our back-to-school gift guide and also our Christmas gift guide. They’re not just “fitness equipment.” They’re lifestyle tools for families who are just starting to enjoy movement, or who don’t have access to a gym, or who simply want a more affordable way to stay active together at home.

And honestly, that’s where the shift is happening. Fitness isn’t just something you go do anymore. For a lot of families, it’s something you build into your home, your routines, and your everyday life. When movement is easy to access, it actually gets used. And when it gets used, it becomes part of the family rhythm instead of something that feels separate or difficult to maintain. That’s the real goal—creating a home where movement is normal, natural, and available whenever you need it.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
