Construction Site: Merry and Bright: A Christmas Lift-the-Flap Book

This is a review for the children’s book Construction Site: Merry and Bright: A Christmas Lift-the-Flap Book – by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Ag Ford which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.

I was putting out my books for Halloween this week when my niece Lily and my nephew Jason visited this morning and I forgot to put up Construction Site: Merry and Bright: A Christmas Lift-the-Flap Book for the Christmas Holidays when they would be visiting and Jason saw the book on my desk.

Before I knew what was happening Charlie and Jason had climbed on my couch under a blanket taking turns reading Construction Site: Merry and Bright and it was fun hearing there excitement over each flap they opened up. Hearing Charlie share the Machines in the book that David has driven for work allowed Jason to get to know his Uncle David just a little bit better.

Charlie and Jason looked up the jobs the machines do and had fun drawing them and we even made Cookies in the shapes of the trucks in the book. I thought Lily might feel left out but she didn’t and she enjoyed the story just as much as Charlie and Jason did.

Lily loved seeing all the Christmas Decorations and the Wreath and now we will be creating a Wreath for my home and Lily’s and on the Wreaths the kids can’t wait to add some of the trucks they found inside the book including a Forklift which is what David drove the most as work.

Charlie came up with Lesson Plans we can use when reading Construction Site: Merry and Bright as well as Spelling Words and even Vocabulary Words. Lily being Lily even came up with a song about the book which we will use in our Homeschool Music Class.
