Smart Games Jump In Travel Board Game Review: A Portable Puzzle Game Kids and Adults Will Love Year-Round

My family wanted to share a fun game we originally featured in our Easter Gift Guide, but Smart Games Jump In Travel Board Game for kids ages 7 and up is one of those board games that doesn’t really belong to just one season. Jump In naturally fits into everyday family life, which is why it’s becoming one of those games we keep reaching for all year long.

Our family has always loved board games, and during the years when Charlie was homeschooling full time, we leaned heavily into learning through play. That mindset never really left our home. Jump In, from Smart Games, fits right into that same approach because this board game quietly builds logic and problem-solving skills while still feeling like a fun puzzle challenge instead of structured learning.

Even though Jump In is designed as a single-player game, it doesn’t feel isolating when playing the game which turns into something everyone gathers around. I can easily see Charlie playing Jump In because of the animals and movement-based puzzle setup, while I’m personally drawn to the foxes because they add just enough mischief to make the challenge interesting. David, on the other hand, is completely entertained by the mushrooms, which honestly takes him straight back to his “Mario phase” all over again.

That’s part of what makes Smart Games stand out for us in general. These aren’t games that get played once and forgotten. They are the kind of puzzles that stay in rotation because they scale with interest and ability. You can pick them up for a few minutes or sit with them longer when you want something more focused, and the games still feel fresh each time you return to them.

Jump In includes sixty different challenges across five levels of difficulty, starting with beginner stages and working all the way up to expert and wizard levels. That progression is what keeps Jump In engaging. It never feels like you’ve “figured it out,” because there is always another layer waiting once you move forward.

One of the biggest reasons Jump In works so well for us is how travel-friendly it is. The entire set closes into a compact case, which makes this board game easy to take anywhere without worrying about losing pieces. It’s become exactly the kind of thing you’d want for road trips, waiting rooms, vacations, or even just quiet time at home when everyone needs a reset.

From a learning standpoint, Jump In naturally encourages planning, concentration, spatial awareness, and problem-solving. In our home, Jump In also fits into the kind of low-pressure learning moments that help build focus skills over time without this game feeling like “work.”

Jump In is also the type of board game that translates really well into Pinterest content because it checks multiple boxes parents are always searching for: screen-free activities, travel-friendly toys, educational games, and quiet-time solutions for kids. Even though it’s technically for ages 7 through adult and can be played solo, Jump In still feels very family-centered in how it gets used in real life.

Smart Games as a brand has also become a staple in our household because their games don’t feel tied to a specific season or holiday. I like how Jump In works just as well in summer travel bags as they do in Christmas stockings or rainy-day baskets. That’s exactly why I can see Jump In becoming a regular feature in our upcoming summer gift guide, and later again in our Christmas and holiday gift roundups. These are the kinds of products that don’t expire with a season—they grow with the way families use them.

Inside the box, you’ll find the compact game board with lid, rabbits, foxes, mushrooms, and a challenge booklet with all sixty puzzles and solutions. Everything stores neatly inside the travel case, which is really what makes the whole design so practical.

SmartGames also offers expanded versions like JumpIN XXL for families who want even more challenges and gameplay variety.

Overall, Jump In is one of those quiet but lasting games and Jump In doesn’t rely on noise or competition to be engaging. It simply invites you to think, adjust, and try again—and that’s what makes it a strong fit for both everyday play and long-term gift guide placement.

About the game:

Help the rabbits jump and hide!

Can you help the rabbits jump to safety?

Use other rabbits, mushrooms and even the moving foxes to jump around and hide the rabbits in their holes.

A great travel game that features 60 challenges and a portable carrying case. For even more fun check out the NEW: JumpIN’ XXL! Extra-large version, more rabbits, more challenges and more fun!

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
