I Want 100 Dogs

Good morning, how are you? I thought I would share a new children’s book which I received a physical copy of in exchange for this review and a spot in our Christmas Gift Guide 202. Let me share I Want 100 DOGS by Stacy McAnulty (Author), Claire Keane (Illustrator) which you will find inside our Christmas Gift Guide 23.

When my step-daughter Leslie was growing up I believe she would have been happy with a 100 dogs or more which is why I couldn’t wait to share this book with her and her son Elijah. Although if the truth was told I wouldn’t mind having 100 dogs as well. As for Charlie I don’t think he would like this many dogs but David might take them if it would make me happy. How about you. Would you want 100 dogs?

I love the cover of the book with the bright red and black letters on the cover as well as all of the dogs. Look closely and you can see the little girls and her parents. They look overwhelmed don’t they? Do you see a dog you would like to have? David found a Basset Hound he would like and Charlie saw a Bull Dog he would like to have. As for me I wouldn’t mind having all the dogs.

Now that the little girl has stated she would like 100 dogs her parents are wondering where 100 dogs would sleep. The little girl says in her bed. Oh, my LORD can you imagine that? Then she decides she would have 90 dogs. Then the dad ask her how would you walk 90 dogs. Which I wouldn’t want to find out would you?

Then the little girls say I want 80 dogs. Then she is asked how would you bath 80 dogs. She says in a swimming pool. I wouldn’t want to try that would you? Then she says I want 70 dogs. They ask her how would you feed 70 dogs. The little girls says I would share all my food with them even my Ice Cream. She is nicer than me because I’m not sharing my Ice Cream. How about? She is reminded dogs should only eat dog food and they would need lots and lots of dog food.

Then she says I would be happy with 60 dogs. She is asked how she would name 60 dogs. She says that’s only 7 names. Don’t ask me how that can be because you will need to read I Want 100 DOGS to figure out how that worked. As well as how what would happen with 50 dogs. 40 dogs. 30 dogs. 20 dogs. 10 dogs.

Finally she decides she would like just one dog. Then she is asked how she would care for one dog and she shows us. The parents think they talked her out of getting 100 dogs and she can’t believe she talked her parents into getting her one dog. LOL She is one smart little girls who reminds me a lot of my step daughter and even Charlie.

I love how I Want 100 DOGS teaches children to count by there 10’s. The illustrations are so fun to see. I Want 100 DOGS is perfect for younger children or anyone who loves dogs and has thought of getting a do or 10, or even 100 dogs. Charlie enjoyed seeing all the adventures 100 dogs would go on. David enjoyed the plot and how easy the book is to read.

About:

In this funny, feel-good first-pet book, one aspiring dog owner and her parents ponder—in wildly imaginative and hilarious detail—all the best and worst outcomes of bringing home more dogs than you can (literally) shake a stick at.

A young girl proclaims, “I want 100 dogs.” In a twist, her parents agree, but they have just one question: Where will 100 dogs sleep? Our protagonist revises her request to 90 dogs. But how does one walk 90 dogs? A silly, subtractive counting tale and an over-the-top ode to the joys (and woes) of canine company, this sweet and surprising story proves that no matter how boundless your enthusiasm, when it comes to finding the perfect pet, sometimes less really is more.
