Join us for Stop! Drop! & Read! As there is still time for you to join us in Stop! Drop! & Read!  As Stop! Drop! and Read! will not end until the end of August. So today Charlie and I went out to the Hurst Library to turn in the books we read last week. And to get new books for this week so we would have something to read for both Stop! Drop! & Read! As well as for Exercise Your Mind the Hurst, Library challenge. I thought I would share the 4 books Charlie and I picked out and read today.

My daughter loved the Biscuit books written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. I knew once Charlie was born that I would want to get him Biscuit books as well. So, we have quite a Biscuit book, but they are packed away. So, when we were at the library today, I picked out some Biscuit books I thought Charlie would enjoy these resources. I was correct Charlie had had fun reading the Biscuit books and remembering me reading them to him when he was smaller.

Now I would like to remind you Charlie is 8 and he is going into the 3rd grade, but these Biscuit books are part of the    I Can Read books series and they are My First Reading, and I knew they might be too easy for Charlie but since he struggles with reading, I figured we could try them and see how he did. And move up from there. I’m glad I picked out I Can Read Books as Charlie did stumble over some of the words. But if we read these books a couple times, he will be perfect before we know it. And he can help his dad read them since David can’t read or write.

The first book we sat down to read was Biscuit and The Lost Teddy Bear and this is one I hadn’t read before and neither had Charlie. And we both enjoyed Biscuit and the Lost Teddy Bear a lot. And both of us cannot wait to purchase a copy of Biscuit and The Lost Teddy Bear for our Library. And I like how well Biscuit, and The Lost Teddy Bear keeps your attention. And the drawings are appealing and cute. Biscuit is a puppy both Charlie and I would like to have.

“What’s that, Biscuit?”

Biscuit has found a lost teddy bear. But who does it belong to? None of his friends is missing a bear. Can Biscuit find the teddy bear’s owner? The youngest of readers will enjoy following Biscuit’s search to return the bear to its rightful home in this charming, easy-to-read adventure.

The second book Charlie and I sat down to read this evening was Bathtime for Biscuit.  I chose it as Charlie has some puppies that needs baths. And Charlie needs to give them one.  I thought if Charlie read this it would prepare him for what happens when he gives the puppies a bath. Iin the past when we gave the dogs a bath what happened in the book did happen to us. But I am not going to tell you what it was as I would like for you to check out for yourself and to read Bath time for Biscuit for yourself.

Everything is ready for Biscuit’s bath—everything except Biscuit. He wants to roll in the mud and play with his friend Puddles!

The third book Charlie and I picked out to read was Biscuit and the Little Pup. And both Charlie and I couldn’t wait to read Biscuit and the Little Pup as we both love puppies. And we wanted to see what type of puppy Biscuit found. And as soon as we both saw the puppy, we feel in love with it and wanted it for ourselves. And we loved the story line as well as the illustrations in this book. I cannot wait to read it again and to purchase it for our library.

Arf! Arf!

When Biscuit finds a little pup in the park, he wants the pup to play with him. But the little pup won’t come over to look at Biscuit’s ball or to chew on a bone. In fact, he won’t come out of his cozy hideaway at all! Is the little pup lost?

Biscuit Finds a Friend is the fourth book we read this evening. Both Charlie and I enjoyed Biscuit Finds a Friend a lot. We liked knowing that the friend Biscuit found was a Duck. Charlie and I wanted to bring the duck home for our own pet. I liked sharing with Charlie that even though animals are different they can be nice to each other and become friends. Just as people can and should.

As we read Biscuit Finds a Friend and since Charlie has been looking for a new friend as he is missing his from school. I thought Biscuit Finds a Friend might make Charlie smile. And it did just that. And we both enjoyed                         Biscuit Finds a Friend a lot. This has made Charlie more determined to go outside tomorrow and make a new friend which I’m happy about. I hate seeing Charlie always staying in his room by himself.

Biscuit is back—and he’s got a new friend. In his second adventure, the lovable yellow puppy meets an adorable lost duckling. Biscuit helps the duckling back to its pond, and their fun begins. Simple text and charming illustrations make this timeless story of first friendship perfect for youngsters just starting to read.
